Still Lame

Another beautiful day....a little chilly.  I woke up at 5 and took a shower at 6 before going out to the barn to soak Rebel's foot before the arrival of the farrier at 8:30.  He was so cooperative and kept wrapping his head around me.  I sat in a chair next to his leg to make sure he did not pull out of the water and when he had been in for 21 minutes, he did not want to let me take his foot out of the bucket.  Needless to say, he was very gimpy this morning.

The boys had breakfast and I turned them out for a short time before putting them in the grooming room with hay nets.

The sky was pretty dramatic.

I put Rebel in a stall so he could occupy himself with the hay.  Buddy was next to him.

The farrier could not find any spots on his sole, but we both think there may be a spot at the top of his hoof.  She helped me put on a proper wrap full of ichthammol and he went back outside.

In spite of the pain, he managed to get to all the pastures.

Before rehearsing today, we listened to many of our recordings to find music that would be appropriate for a video we are making.  Then we took a good look at the indoor to see where we will be setting up for and event that will be held here in October.
Since we got a late start, we were acoustic today.

Little Wonder took his afternoon nap in the living room.

I made macaroni salad, sliced up some tomatoes topped up with vinegar and oil....and Gary grilled chicken.  A delicious dinner.
Little Wonder and I rested for half an hour after dinner.

Chores at 7.

My poor boy was still very lame and I gave him a gram of bute tonight.
Also put some extra shavings in his stall as I could see that he slept down last night.
I feel so bad for him.

Night all.
Tomorrow is Gary's 80th Birthday.

Is there anything your Vet can do? I know nothing about horses. Is what you are doing all that there is to help your beautiful horse? I know this is hard for you to watch. Thank you.

Bute ought to help a little bit! Lameness is always a mystery when it isn't obvious. Hopefully Rebel will come out of this.

Poor boy. It's bad enough when you know what's wrong. Miserable when you don't. Dinner looks delicious and LW looks adorable.

Charlotte...I will give him a few more days and if things don't improve, will call the vet. If it is traveling up his foot, there is not much they can do other than what I am doing by soaking and putting on a drawing salve. It would be much easier if there was a spot on his sole.

Thank you I know you everything you know from all your experience. Since I know nothing about horses I could only ask. We have a Westie that we are treating him for an ear infection. We are doing everything the Vet said to do. If there was more we could do we would. He was checked about a month ago and didn’t find anything. Now they found an infection. My husband said today where did it come from? Did the instrument the Vet put in his ear was it clean? Had it been another dog and it passed on an infection to our dog. Oh I trust the foot and leg heal faster than it has so for. 🙏🏻 for this situation. I appreciate you answering my question.

Frequently they'll get really bad just before it pops out. If you could find some CleanTrax somewhere, I've used that once and had good results. Had forgotten about that.
