There's Been a Change in the Weather!

The last morning of 2014 started off with a beautiful sunrise and temperatures in the teens.

The girls and I definitely needed some solar.

Happy to get back in the house.
Below is my command central.  Two pillows, 1 quilt, Vicks, Kleenex, cough drops, glass of water, the tv remote, Kindle, reading glasses, iPad and phone....just in case.

Phoebe and Gucci had to be driven to their grooming appointment by Gary.
Here is the before look.
Can't beat sunshine.
Once again I prepared another bowl of fruit...oranges, bananas and grapes.  Just sounded good.
Around 3:30 the snow started to come down at a quick pace.  Quite a switch from earlier.

With the windchill it was in the single digits so I put the girls in a little early.

Changed Berlin and Abbe's blankets from Medium to heavy Rambos.
I really like the color in this picture of Maggie.  In fact, I must be getting a little better to have taken more photos.
Leftover ham and cabbage soup for dinner.
Now, I can go back in the kitchen continue watching a series on Netflix.
Last night I actually went about 5 hours without coughing and was able to sleep.  Hopefully I have really turned the corner, even tho I am still far from normal.
Night all.

PS
Here is another painting you will see at the art opening on Saturday.
This is a watercolor of Berlin (yes, my Berlin) painted by Brenda Cretney.
I think I need to have this...it is so beautiful.

No Improvement!

Having irregular (if any) sleep for a week is having quite an impact on me!  I don't think it's possible to cough more times in a day...not to mention having an achier body and 0 energy.  It's not only a pain in the butt, it's a pain all over!  After hearing from some of by pals, it sounds like this cold runs from Maine to California....along with a stop at Stephen Andrew's in Ohio.

However, there was a beautiful sunrise this morning.

After chores it was the same old, same old.
Had a fire going, drank a variety of liquids, took meds, ate weird things, read, grabbed a very hot shower (which makes me feel like a wet noodle), kept coughing, tried to nap... blah, blah, blah.
Sidney
 Phoebe
and Gucci were trying to keep me company (they were doing imitations).
Chores at 5.  23 degrees and getting colder tonight.
Got the girls tucked in and was in no mood for a real dinner.  Had a sandwich.
So when is this going to turn around for real?
Night all.

PS
Here is one of the pieces that will be in the Skoog Farm Workshop Exhibition.
It is a self portrait of Amy H. done in oils.  She was a student of mine for years and is now taking classes at the college.  Every year I love to invite friends to participate so they have a chance to be seen.

A Real Dinner...

For a very short time we had a little light up in the sky....

but it turned grey within the hour and the temperature remained around 30.
I was dragging, as usual, and got out to the barn after Gary and Karen.
Then it was more of the same.  Meds.  Liquids. Cat napping by the Fire.  Watched another movie.
The past couple nights I've done evening chores solo.  Put on sweats over my nightgown and look like a bag lady.  Still not in the picture taking mode.  Tucked the girls in while Gary worked on
dinner...a real dinner!  A nice salad with Greek olives
along with a spectacular casserole made by Karen.  Thinly sliced and peeled eggplant made into rolls, stuffed with a mixture of ricotta cheese, spinach, parmesan cheese and an egg. Covered with sauce and topped with mozzarella cheese.  So good!  A great vegetarian meal.
I must be getting better.  I could actually taste it.
Night all.

What A Drag

The only thing I have accomplished since Christmas Eve is to make an appearance in the barn morning and night.  I sure hope you have escaped this cold, 'cause I feel whipped.
Just took a very hot shower and am going to take a nap.
Night all.

How Many More Days?

Gary went out to the barn to help me this morning.  I am still good for nothing.
Thank heavens Karen is there.
The temperature was in the low 50s and the sun was actually out for awhile.
 This was my view....
Phoebe and Gucci kept me company.  They know I feel lousy.
Jenny's cold lasted a week.  Yuck.  I have a few more days to go.
Night all.

Hiatus....

It was a beautiful day and I missed it.
Coughing, steamers, full sinuses and a trip to the Doctor.  Yuck.
Night all.

I Got A Cold For Christmas....

We survived heavy winds last night without any damage.  The temperature dropped from near 60 to the 30s and we still had plenty of wind all day.

The girls are covered up again.

No wonder I didn't feel that great last night....by today I had a full blown coughing, aching, tired feeling cold.  I will be vegging for days.

This morning we went down to Jen's for a quick brunch.

I wonder what presents Finn and Coop liked the most?
Jen and Gary were enjoying fresh coffee with a little Bailey's and whipped cream.
Scott was on duty in the kitchen and made us superb omelets and homefries.
Coop managed to break away from the electronics and started working on a Lego project.

He can put these things together so fast!

We left at 11:30 and I was shot for the day....except for making a pot of ham and cabbage soup (which we will eat tomorrow).

This afternoon the sun came out for a short period of time.  It was all I could do to drag myself to the back porch for a couple of pictures.

However, there are no acceptable excuses when you have animals to take care of.
Out to the barn at 5.  Why are white horses the ones who roll the most?

Gary heated up leftovers from last night.  Now it's time (6:45pm) for a hot shower and more rest.
Hope you all had a warm and Merry Holiday.
Night all.
