Early to Rise

By 7am the Roofers started to arrive.  From then on, it was a noisy, crazy day.  As if that was not enough, a man came to do the fall check on our furnace and I had a couple people over for class.  The driveway was jammed and Little Wonder was not too hot for all the confusion.  The first thing they did...draped this fabric stuff over the sides of the house.

They started taking off the layers of shingles and soon thereafter Scott had to come over with another dumpster and took away the other.
What a mess.  While all that was going on my students arrived and Gary directed them to safe parking spots.

I only had two today as my next session is really supposed to start on October 7th.  It was extremely relaxing.  We listened to music and they made great progress.
Anita started adding colored pencil to her painting.
Little Wonder supervised.  I think he was happy to be out of the house,
Cassie added to two of her paintings.
I think she is really getting the hang of looseness.
By the time they left, almost all of the new plywood was on the roof.
I will be interested in seeing Gary's kitchen garden tomorrow as tons of shingles were thrown on it.

They worked their butts off and got everything done before dark.  I'll have a better look at it tomorrow.

Gary worked on his raised beds and kept an eye on things most of the day.
This morning he made another batch of sauce.
Little Wonder was definately interested in going for a walk to the Back 40 by late afternoon.
It's his little groove.
Dinner was very blond.  Pork medallions, sauted cabbage and.....more fresh applesauce.
I need some chair time!  Yay! tomorrow my new couches get delivered.

Roger!  Glad you and Tina enjoyed the pasta sauce.  More is on the way.
Night all.

No Roofers Today.

Another beautiful, frigid morning.  Had to close the bedroom window last night

Around 8am we had a knock on the door and there was a delivery of plywood, shingles and a bunch of other stuff as the roofers were supposed to be here this afternoon.
A little after 9 Scott stopped over with a dumpster to collect all the trash.  I can't believe how he was able to back that huge monster into our narrow driveway.  Straight as an arrow.
Gary skipped yoga as there was so much going on.  I decided to go for a trike ride before he left for lunch.  Wore a hooded sweatshirt and still needed a fleece jacket with both hoods up.  On top of the cold...it was windy.
Ride #35 and there still is a lot more Billy Easton music out there.
At 1 Little Wonder and I headed out to the Studio for some music.  The roofers did not show and should be here tomorrow.

There were three of us today and we just messed around.
Decided it was time to pick 10 songs and really learn them.  Now we have a list.....if we would just stick to it.

Shortly after I got back to the house, a neighbor dropped off two huge bags of peeled and sliced apples....the kind we have been turning into applesauce.
Threw one bag in a big pot....
and turned the other into Apple Betty.

I've been dying for something sweet.....moderation.  moderation.
Gary has cleaned out most of the tomatoes and is now redoing the beds they were in.
Little Wonder wanted my dinner.
Egg rolls, white rice and applesauce.  A strange combo and the egg rolls were not the healthiest thing for me, but I was still way below my sodium and potassium levels today.  Maybe I can do this again in a few weeks.  And I'm still going to have some Apple Betty.
Night all.

Bad to the Bone

Freezing here this morning!  Needed a sweatshirt and a jacket as we did not even hit 50 degrees by the time I got up.  The high was 56 and so dreary.  I did my usual and realized I had forgotten about my appointment with the chiropractor at 10.  He was willing to take me, and I was down there by 10:30.  Big Bertha was doing her things and gave me 60 seconds of peace.

I knew I was going to be bad for dinner and was careful with breakfast (1/2 cup oatmeal) and lunch.
For lunch I had half a cup of egg salad (no salt) on two romaine leaves with 5 broken up white corn chips (legal) and a couple of beets.  Tasted fine.
Little Wonder had some lap time.
Before 9am Gary got a call from the roofer, and they will be here tomorrow.  Quite a surprise. Then he called Scott to have a dumpster dropped off at 7 tomorrow morning.  Finn came up and worked for a couple of hours helping get the loft (above our kitchen....like an attic) organized and covered much of the junk up there with tarps.  Ripping off the current roofing and plywood is going to make a serious mess

Eventually we went out to the Studio.
It was windy, which made it even colder.
I even turned on my little heater.
Finished up my latest example.....watercolor with colored pencil.  Can't decide if I am going to add ink.

Now here's where things started getting bad.  I had all the stuff needed to make Naan pizzas and this was going to be the night.  The problem......Naan bread (which has been in the freezer for weeks) is the worst thing I could eat as it's loaded with just what I don't need  (that's why I had no bread for a sandwich earlier).
I put on 2 tablespoons of Gary's sauce (no salt)....more on his.
Peppers and onions (no more meat for me).
And 1/4 cup of Mozzarella cheese.

We also had a cucumber salad topped with 2 tablespoons of bean salad.  No salt.
Believe me....I savored ever bite.  Now I won't have tomato anything for awhile.
Night all.
