Another Early Morning

I keep waking up at 5:30....and no nap today. Before going out to the barn a load of wash was done and one more started.  Usually I go out at 8, but today I went out early so I could clean Rebel's nose and give him his antibiotics.  Fortunately, the draining of his nose is slowing down...but it was still yucky.

They are not used to waiting for their breakfast, but that's just how it's gong to be until he is through with these antibiotics.

Fortunately he was very cooperative and a few minutes later they were headed out to the pasture.
Aside from some hard rain, we did not get much of a storm last night.  Very grateful.  I had closed all the doors everywhere and had to open things up today.  The grass has gotten rich and green everywhere....even in the outdoor arena.

At 11 I went down to two banks and Wegmans.  Love all the blossoms.

Had to pick more fresh daffodils for the kitchen table.
Today Big Ash came to clean out our kitchen wood burning stove and I had the final meeting with my spaghetti supper team.  I think we are all set for Saturday and we are cooking for about 60 people.
Leftover cabbage soup for dinner.
Chores at 7:45.

Rebel's nose was gunky, but not red or orange.  Had improved a little more from this morning.

Such a gorgeous dude.
For being in their late 20s, these two boys look great!

He ate all of his grain, but was just hanging out when I left the barn.

Little Wonder and Sid were keeping me company.

Night all.

Rebel Continued

Last night I went out to check on Rebel at 10:30 and 1am.  Got his nose cleaned up and finally went to bed.

This morning, went out to the barn early and the sunrise was trying to tell me something.  We may get some severe weather before this day is over.  The temperature went up to 80 degrees.

Little Wonder knew our routine was different as he did not get his carrots before we went out.
Rebel had a bloody nostril, so I cleaned him up and took his temperature.  99.1
It must have drained a fair amount last night as there was gunk near his window and on the shavings...again.
It was very hot right off the bat and the boys came into the run-in by Buddy's stall.
I set them up with hay nets as there was a nice breeze.

I did more nose cleaning off and on.

I was back in the house by 8:15 and called the vet.  Was taking a rest when someone knocked on the door.  It was Alice!  I forgot we were having a Spa Day.  Even with a bloody nose, I knew Rebel would appreciate a good grooming.
The boys were happy to see her.
As per usual, Buddy was first.

Just when it was Rebel's turn I had to go in the house and spent quite awhile trying to get some photos and a video to the Vet so I did not get any photos of him.  Alice kept his nose clean and when I got back to the grooming room we turned them back out.

Dr. Pell arrived at 3:30 and set up a ton of equipment so she could scope Rebel's nostrils.  I watched the entire thing and was very worried.
He had to be sedated as it took an hour and a half to do it.  Fortunately his guttural pouches were fine.  If there was a problem there it would have been bad news.  I chose not to have an x-ray done (cha Ching cha Ching) as if there was a cist there, nothing could be done.  So why bother?  He is on antibiotics for 2 weeks and if things shape up, it may still happen again.  Hopefully the draining will stop.
Fortunately he had his pal in the stall next to him and he was a perfect angel during the procedure and while Rebel was coming out of the sedative.

They were finally able to go out around 6:30.

All day long the weather service had been putting out storm warnings and some places not too far from here may get tornadoes.  At 7pm, the sky still looked ok here, and now (8:23) it has started to sprinkle.

The boys were tucked in at 7:30 and Rebel was not very excited to get his antibiotics.  It's going to be a long two weeks.  I am so tired.
Night all.
