Once again, our granddaughter Ariana, organized the second Origin of Country Day at her school in Las Vegas (where she teaches). We could not be more proud of her for creating this event last year, having even more participants this time!
This is beyond long overdue, but I figured it was time to share some moments from our second annual Country of Origin Day! If you know me, you know that this day is practically my Super Bowl. Without a doubt, it’s the best day of the year! Working at a school with such rich diversity has been an absolute treat. This year we had over 350 of our students dress up, representing over 50 different countries. Everyday I get to learn new words in different languages, understand new traditions, and appreciate where my students come from!
The most beautiful thing about our Country of Origin Day is the fact that our student body is so open to learning about one another’s culture. Several students have said that the one day at school they can wear their culture’s tradition dress is the one day of the year they feel most confident in their school outfit. I’m so lucky to be apart of something so incredible. Here’s to making next year even bigger and better!

This would have been the most colourful and wonderful event of the year. Ariana, you would be thrilled to have recognition for each of those 50 countries. Lori, no greater pride than when a granddaughter is so resourceful, smart and thoughtful.
