PART II - TO MEDINA AND BACK - COUNTRY ROADS

It was a perfect day to go out to lunch. And so we did...Deb, Tom, Brenda, Tina, Roger, Ann, Ron, Kendra, Herb, Alicia, Gary and moi. We were supposed to go last Friday, but were stopped by a "snow day." Schools were closed, the roads were bad, it was cold and we got nearly 2 feet of snow. What a difference a week makes. The plan was to make our debut at a highly recommended restaurant in Medina, which is about 30 miles west of Brockport.

I want to show you a little bit of the scenery that we passed going out and coming back.

Above is the White Farm...a bed and breakfast owned by a friend of ours.

I won't be able to identify every home...I just kept clicking away.

Above, is an Ethanol plant...(in case you wondered where all the corn is going).

Now, we are in Medina...

A lot of great architecture in this village....

And the Erie Canal runs right through it!

We all met at Zambistro's a little before 12:30.

This is a painting that was hanging behind my chair...I really like it.

The dining area was relatively small as restaurants go, and probably held 40 people or so. The walls were a warm khaki green and it was simply decorated....spotless.

The menu had many offerings...from salads, soups and paninis to fish fries and wraps.

We have decided that going out to lunch is the way to go.

Whoever is game, shows up and we always enjoy the food and conversation.

Several of us ordered the roasted red pepper soup. It was excellent. Tomato, roasted red peppers, maybe a little onion, and some cheese.

Ron ordered French Onion.

This was a salad of mixed greens, cranberries and blue cheese with a strawberry vinagerette dressing...garnished with apple chips.

Homemade mac and cheese with lobster served with a mixed green salad.

Chicken salad wrap (without the wrap) served with homemade chips.

A calamari and spinach salad...

A creampuff stuffed with vanilla ice cream topped with chocolate and almonds.

We are pretty good in the jabbering department....take turns, of course!

and we get in a lot of laughs.

We left a little after two. Gary had to get ready for First Friday (by 3).

Most of these shots were taken through the car window....and much of the time we were moving.

Another beautiful afternoon with friends.

This beats the heck out of going to a restaurant for dinner...must be old age. Where are we going next? How lucky are we....

I can smell the cold and the snow, and even the food! You always make me hungry and a little homesick.

The food look great and it's always better when shared with good friends. The architecture was very nice also.

Your new photo up top looks beautiful and so spring like. Thanks for reminding me of good things to come.
