This baby fell out of a tree. Watched it for a couple of days...the mother kept track of the situation and must have continued to feed it. Hopefully it was able to fly, as I can no longer find it.

s/he looks almost ready to fledge and babies like this do survive as long as there are not an overabundance of cats

Yes, it looks like a fledgling with that many feathers, it was probably on its own in a couple of days. Nice shot!
good picture! I agree with flowerweaver! Once they are out of the nest, with all those feathers its just a matter of days before they are on their own!
Good capture for the little guy. I love seeing the baby birds, but always worry about them as they take their first ventures out of the nest. They look so awkward still.

nice that the mom keeps coming back to care for it. i wonder will it fly though now that it does not have the drop from the nest to catch a lift?
