All In The Family

We are still having perfectly gorgeous weather.

After chores, Little Wonder's favorite person arrived at 9:30 and we were finally able to catch up.  He sat on her lap for over an hour! Janet and the horse she is half leasing are doing very well and she has participated in a couple of excellent clinics with him.

The latest was with Patrick King.

Janet is one of the most thoughtful and generous people I have ever met.  She brought us a strawberry shortcake..... 

which we shared....first with Mark G. (who was exchanging tomato plants with Gary...)

 and then, with Jenny, Coop and Finn...who came up to help with a couple of things.  

First, we went to the loft of the barn and took down three tarps that have been used for decades to protect the hay from the birds.  They were all filthy and we wore masks.

Fortunately a big ladder was left up there and it made the job easier.

That big rope has been hanging there since we moved in back in 1981 and Coop thought he would take a swing on it.

Since I only have two horses, there is enough room downstairs to store a years worth of hay.  No more going up and down.  However....there are still about 40 bales left in the grainery section (birds can't go there) and hopefully that will get me through until 2nd cutting grass is available.

I loved the light when we were finished.  It looked like a cathedral.

Next, they moved 16 bales of hay for me....

Jenny did the water for evening chores and dumped the wheel barrow.  I'm sure Gary appreciated that.

Finally, we checked out the remains of the stockade fencing we took down, as Jenny is going to recycle part of it down at her house.  We can't say enough about how appreciative we are as they always show up to give us a hand.

Had a break before dinner.

Tonight I made Mac and cheese with caramelized onions

and a simple salad.

So good.

Now it's time to go tuck the ponies in and take a couple more photos.

Buddy had no mask on.  I found it later in the indoor where he rolled.
