ODE TO THE BACK FORTY....YEEEHAAAHHHH!

Mornin'....it was in the 50s and a little grey when I got up.

There is something about cooler weather that makes me very ambitious. After chores I started making some changes in the barn...it involved some bull work that I could not do on my own, so Trina was kind enough to come up and help me move around some very heavy mats. It did not take long and I think it made a difference. The horses are starting to get used to their new stall assignments, but we're not quite there yet.

When I finished house cleaning (the barn) mowed around the perimeter of our property and decided to do the lane that goes back a mile.

When I'm finished, the path is a little over 6 feet wide and much nicer for trail rides.

There are "weeds" everywhere, and they are beautiful....bands of color.

So country.....

Late afternoon I went to Shepherd's Mill for a load of sawdust for the stalls. This is the most he has had in a long time. I should really start stocking up before winter.

It's the first time I used Gary's car...he was not too excited about it, but it did the job very well.

For $35 I get 4 huge scoops and the trailer is mounded.

I love Glidden Road. It is a short cut to the mill.

When I approach the farm from the south, the view is entirely different. Here is a good shot of our new metal roof.

Jenny and the kids showed up just when I started evening chores. They all helped moving the sawdust into the stalls.

Too bad Finn and Coop did not have some of their little trucks with them...could have had a great time playing in the sawdust.

During the summer I invested in a lot of stall mats. Tonight they got covered with a thick coating that will make for a very nice bed.

Finn and Coop remembered that Grampa put up their new swing and could not get enough pushes.

Higher Grampa!!!

This morning our friend Howard came up and worked on the gardens all day. He made quite a difference. One more push tomorrow, and we will be ready. There is Father Foozie, waiting for all the action on Sunday.

While I was out picking the pastures after chores, the horses decided to join me. I thought the Kenney's would enjoy watching their docile horse.

I just put the horses in and am done for the day. Night all.

Boy, that there pony is feeling good! Mine will be like that when there's a bit of a nip to the air. And it's only 48 this morning!

Looks like you've got some good help with that sawdust. It's nice that you have so much company.
