Sunshine All Day Long

When I was in the barn for morning chores the radio said with the wind chill it was 3 degrees.

After the horses had their breakfast, Janet put a boot on Ronin to protect his shoeless foot until the farriers were to arrive at 11.  He is sporting one of Gary's socks

Since it was so cold, we fed the ponies their hay behind the indoor so they could absorb the sunshine and have the wind blocked.

Gary had a doctor's appointment and I started thinking about what to make for dinner.  I bought some bratwurst and sauerkraut yesterday and that sounded pretty good.  Sautéed bacon and onions, added the sauerkraut (which I boiled in fresh water and drained before adding), topped it with a little cider vinegar and brown sugar, mixed and added a chopped up apple.  Later, it would go in the oven topped with the bratwurst, which had been par boiled.

It sure has been a long time since we have had so much good light.

As the lasts longer, evening chores start a little later.

In the house by 5:30 and finished putting dinner together.
Made a side of buttered "noodles"
and broiled some pumpernickel bread, which we topped with strawberry jam.
So delicious!  And plenty of leftovers...
Night all.

Farrier is a big part of Ronin's life. By Saturday we begin to have more moderate temperatures. I absolutely love your house.
