The Grand Finale...

Chilly willy!  High winds.

After lunch I watched "Blue Jasmine."  Did anyone see it?

Then we had some visitors as Lais brought her grandchildren to the farm.  They came up from New York City Friday night to watch their grandfather in Sankofa (the artistic director/ choreographer/drummer), and we really enjoy their visits.  They have all grown like weeds!  Phoebe and Gucci love all the attention they are given.
Went down to the college to listen to the final activity for the
Low Bridge, High Water Canal Opening.

The Brockport Symphony Orchestra and the Golden Eagle String Band presented the
Erie Canal Celebration Concert.

The program opened with the Symphony, directed by Jonathan Allentoff, music director and composer.  He is graduating from SUNY Brockport this month and founded this group a couple of years ago while he was an underclassman.  The group has grown steadily and includes people from the college and community.  For a young man, he has an amazing resume.

You saw the Golden Eagle String Band down at the canal yesterday.  They have been performing in the Northwestern US since 1978, making recordings, touring under a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, and received a gold medal from the Smithsonian institute as Folkways recording artists.  Dr. William Hullfish is a real treasure in this community and recently completed his 50th year as a professor at the college.

One more thing that makes Brockport a very special community.

Home a little after 5.  Had some soup and a salad (forgot to take pictures) before going out to do evening chores.  It was still very sunny, but the wind was nasty cold.

As I write this, the sun has started to go down...squeaking out a little more soft light on the West side of the house.
This coming week is going to be crazy.  1 rehearsal and 3 performances with the chorus.
Night all.

Wonderful community, superb conductor, great musician, and the girls, as always, add their bit to the daily story. Hope the weather stays warmer for you from now on. Cheers, Jean.

Brockport really looks like a lovely place to live. Maybe I will go there if I ever visit my cousin in Buffalo again!
I saw Blue Jasmine, I thought it was excellent. Cate Blanchett was outstanding.
