THAT'S ALL SHE WROTE

Heavier blankets were in order this morning.
Even tho I felt like crap I had to bundle up and drive down to the Canal to see what this
Village to Village Challenge was all about (see post below).
Was only gone for less than an hour and spent the rest of the day in front of the fire.
It was so dreary when it was time for evening chores.
Called the girls and they came running in...Berlin with her boot an all.

Tucked them in around 6.

Right now I wish I was at the Library Fund Raiser as my drumming pals from the college are performing.
But noooooooooo....I have to protect the rest of the world from my cold.
Night all.

THE 2012 VILLAGE TO VILLAGE CHALLENGE

It's in the 30s here in Brockport....but that did not stop 32 had core rowers from getting on the Erie Canal to go from Brockport to the next town east, Spencerport.
Gary was a volunteer for this event and I snuck down at the last minute to grab some quick shots.
Participants and volunteers met at the Welcome Center.  (I believe the whole thing was sponsored by the fire departments from both villages).

Fortunately they were serving hot coffee, cider, donuts and bagels (which I missed out on as I did not want to share my cold).  Gucci, Phoebe and I watched from the car.

Are you kidding me?  Shorts!
Greg (the pianist for our chorus) was one of several cyclists who followed along on the path next to the Canal.

There was time for a warm-up...

Then they turned around, went under the Park Ave. bridge and the first timer was waiting for them to cross the line.

What a bunch of troopers.

I left for home and Gary is still out there somewhere.
Another even that makes Brockport such a unique community.

I TOOK A SICK DAY....

The last mums of the season....hanging on.
It did not go above 40 today, but no rain.
I now have Gary's cold and it is nasty.  Did not sleep well last night and my head wants to explode.
After chores I made another batch of minestrone...needed something warm for lunch.
In the afternoon, the sun tried to make a weak appearance that didn't last 2 minutes.
Tried to catch up on some sleep in front of the fire.

I bought a bag of pears at Wegmans a few days ago and they ripened all at once.  By tomorrow they would have started to get bad, so I googled "Pear Pie" and gave it a shot.  Added one apple.

Gary was gone all afternoon getting ready for First Friday.  No way was I going to make it.

Before chores I soaked Berlin's foot.  She had broken through her boot and was moving fairly well.

 Tucked them in around 6....
and got back in the house just in time to take the pie out of the oven.
Needless to say, I am out of gas.
Night all.

RAIN, RAIN GO AWAY....

A week in the 40s is coming up.
 Put sheets on the girls.
A new blossom on November 1st....amazing.
 While Sidney played outside,
the rest of the crew vegged in the house.

Went to Agape for a half-baked session.  Spent most of my time catching up with Sara.
When I got back to the farm Finn and Coop were here while Mom and Dad went to parent conferences.

After they left I got hooked on "Damages."

Chores at 6...the barn was snuggy.  (lots of orbs floating around)

 Back in just before dark.

Leftovers for dinner.
Night all.
