Shifting Into Slow(ish)...

Started off with a sweatshirt this morning, but that did not last very long.  It turned into a very beautiful day...low 70s with a breeze.

After chores I mowed the front paddock...got all the old hay mulched and am waiting for the grass to fill in.

Looking south.

And North.
Hopefully things will start to grow.
Over 50 years ago this was a cow farm with cement in the front paddock.  The light cover of dirt on top keeps away deep mud when it rains.  As you can see, the horses have a backboard in case they want to play ball.  When we moved here 34 years ago, there was no fencing and the horse barn (on the right) was full of cow stanchions and dismanteled cars.  The girls are very spoiled as they have two run-ins, a 60 foot shed roof, the outdoor arena and the indoor at their disposal (not to mention the pastures).  Why not?  There are only 4 of them and we keep everything picked.  The three pastures are under 4 acres, so it works out well and we can rotate when needed.
At 9 Gordy B. came up to rototill the outdoor and indoor.  Trying to get rid of weeds before they have a chance to dig in.

Both turned out beautifully.  I will have him return every few weeks to maintain them during the summer and fall.  Beats the heck out of my drag.  We have never owned a tractor.
Karen got out of work early and was able to add some hoofprints with Angel.

In the meantime, Abbe and Berlin chowed and Maggie observed.

At 10:30 I went down to Agape.  Added few more minutes to the aerobic part of my workout.  My goal is three times a week, and I hope it will happen.

Did very little this afternoon...wanted to start reading a new book, but never got to it.  I am so ready to have no committments for awhile.

Chores at 6:30.  The girls were really being bothered by gnats, so they were very happy to go in.

Simple supper.  Veggie cheeseburgers with lots of caramelized onions, roasted potatoes and leftover coleslaw.
(Now there are 4 huge blossoms on the amaryllis).
Once again, it was light when I started this post, and now it's almost dark.  Maybe I can start on that book now.
Night all.

You have a beautiful place. I'll bet the good footing felt nice after being dragged. I find it impossible to keep up with the weeds in the arenas.

Hope you get to start that book and take a rest.

Lori, I always look forward to seeing pics of your horses. I'm a horse lover from way back! Such noble and beautiful animals. Have a great weekend. Mickie ;)

Beautiful weather, eh? We had pea sized hail. Just up the road they had golf ball sized hail.
