Empty Pastures

Sure can't complain about the weather.

Jenny and Scott stopped here to pick up a dolly so they could move a few things for someone.

After they left I decided to go for trike ride #18 before it warmed up.  Next week is going to be nasty hot.
About 45 minutes later I was back home.

The second leaf is opening on the Bird of Paradise. I would love to have it get huge again,
Little Wonder and I took a break and watched a movie before going out to mow the pastures.
Instead of looking like a golf course, they look like hay fields.
This is the first time I mowed to the second floor of the barn.
The big pasture is totally out of control and I don't think my lawn tractor can handle it at this time.  I have a very wide path in between so LW doesn't have to walk through the long stuff.

The back pasture,
outdoor arena, the small pasture, front paddock and the hill to the barn are done....but they don't look that great. Very sad with no horses out there.
Not in a cooking mood.  That meant Naan bread pizzas.  The no brainer meal.

Night all.

Mowing and Bridge

Another beautiful morning....coolish.

By 9am I was out mowing the lawn.

As you can see, the gardens are going nuts.  The garlic is going to be ready shortly.

Whenever I mow, Little Wonder keeps tabs on me.

Grabbed a quick shower and stopped at Mr. Grey's Strays (local cat rescue) on my way to Hanny's for an afternoon of bridge.  A couple days ago they took in 19 cats and kittens and needed help so I dropped off some $$$ and meds.

Got to Hanny's at 1.  As per usual, her home was surrounded by beautiful flowers

We played until about 4:30 and then chatted for another half hour.  We have not gotten together for 6 months or so and it really felt good.
Yesterday I made sloppy Joes, so all I had to do was create a bowl of coleslaw for dinner and put everything together.
I need a nap now.
Night all.

PS
As you know, Steph lives in Kansas City....which has been jumping with the FIFA World Cup 2026 activity.  Yesterday she posted this photo...which I love! (Tunisia vs, Netherlands). Tomorrow she and Joe will be attending a game...I believe it will be Algeria vs. Austria.  Should be wild!!!

The Tree Surgeon

Cool and raining around noon.   By 9am Maplewood was here to start working on the willow tree.

It was pretty noisy and Little Wonder was not interested in going outside.

Trimming like this is a real art.

It looked like this before he started.
And here's what it look like when finished.  So much better.
I played bridge at the library.  Tied for second.  Made so many mistakes today!!!
Dinner was easy.  Salad....
and some fried chicken that was given to me last night.
The house is cold tonight.  Should be some good sleeping.
Night all,

Part One of the Clean Up

Lots of activity around here on this beautiful day.

First I let Little Wonder out and we took a look at some of the new blossoms.

Finn arrived at 10am to help Gary with the gardens.  They spent 3 1/2 hours over by the Studio.
Just as they were finishing
a  couple of guys arrived to start moving all the logs surrounding the willow tree.
In about 20 minutes they had everything loaded on the trailer.  That little green machine was very powerful when it came to lifting a ton of weight.

Tomorrow they will come back to finish trimming the tree and seal up the parts where the big branches broke off.
A little after 3 I decided to go for Trike Ride #17.  It was hotter than I thought.
At 5:30 I went to a potluck/film event put on by the Indivisible Group from Westside Monroe County.

"Lightworkers" by Bobby Roth
After watching his film, he zoomed with us and we were able to ask questions.  Everyone needs to see it.  Hopefully it will get on MSNow or PBS or somewhere.
Back home around 8:30.  So glad I went to see this.
Night all.
