What a Surprise!

More Colorado skies today.  I am loving the cooler, brilliant weather.

After chores Scott stopped up for some firewood for their dinner party tonight.
When he left I continued mowing the lawn.  The grass has grown like crazy and it's so rich and green.

Here, I am coming back next to the driveway that leads to the house in the back forty.  They mow their side and I do this side.
Look at that gorgeous color!
Gary took off the screen door to the cellar and is painting it white to match the trim on the porch.
Today we were able to get that area back in shape.  Most of the summer it has been covered with painting supplies, ladders etc..  Now the floor has been painted and we don't have veggies hanging all over the place.

This afternoon I was binging on a series when there was a knock on the door!  Could not believe who it was!!! Sarah (Leslie) Roeske, her daughter Bella and Bella's boyfriend were standing there!!!  Sarah's Mom (Nancy, who has passed) and I were best buds for decades and our kids grew up together.  Sarah moved to Virginia and so did her Mom...a long time ago.  Even tho we only had a very brief visit, it was great to see them.
Dinner was simple.  Boiled potatoes, sautéed peppers/onions and a chopped tomato topped with 6 beaten eggs and eventually some cheddar cheese.

We were due for a breakfast dinner.

Chores around 6:45.

Got the boys tucked in just before dark.

Night all.

PS

On October 15, Tuesday at 7pm Scott Chaskey will present to the community his 40 some years of organic gardening/farming.  His talk will take place at the Morgan-Manning House in Brockport.  Scott is past president of NOFA-NY, and NOFA-NY organic farmer of the years in 2013.  He is a poet and author of three non-fiction books on plants, seeds and farming.

Subjects Scott will touch on are sustainability, native plants, organic gardening/farming and more.

Event is free and open to the community.

Gary met Scott many years ago when they were both on the NOFA Board and he started selling him garlic from our farm, driving bushels of it to Quail Hill Farm in Amagansett. In addition to presenting at the Morgan Manning House, Scott will be the featured guest at the Writer's Forum, SUNY Brockport. We look forward to hosting him for these events.
