The early morning sky was a brilliant orange.
Then it started to change.
Before I went out to the barn it was getting darker and it started to pour. So hard that Phoebe did not want to go outside and Seymour and Sidney were taken to the barn in their carrier.
It stopped and the sun came out. The horses were out on the pasture for awhile when it started to rain again.
At 11:30 I drove out to Shepherd's Mill to pick up a load of sawdust for the stalls.
Love those back roads.
Our little old trailer can hold a pretty good load.
On the way home I picked up Sounji and the kids, as they were going to ride today. They came early to help move the sawdust.
Half way through, it started to pour again and it was so hard we were trapped in the barn. I had to go to the house and find the kids some boots to wear so they could get across the paddock.
Finally it stopped, and we were able to get ready to ride. I called Berlin and she cantered to me....but didn't let me catch her right away. Same as yesterday.
The kids learned that we always groom first and they all worked very hard to get Berlin ready.
Today we used a hackamore.
I rode first and showed them a few moves (like counter shoulder in and haunches in) and the kids applauded...how sweet.
I could not ask for more well behaved children. They were quiet and patient, as they waited for their turns.
This horse is really the best....she followed me wherever I went. We did serpentines and circles and she was right there.
Of course their day would not have been complete without spending time with the kittens and pups.
Everybody helped sweep out the grooming room when we were finished.
We waited in the house for their grandmother to pick them up. The afternoon light was beautiful.
After they left I went out to do chores.
The stalls were beautious...fluffy and bright.
Didn't get in 'til 7 so we went down the road for a bite to eat.
Tomorrow is going to be a very busy day.

Those children are absolutely beautiful. And how wonderful that they are behaved and polite to boot. Not sure I'd bring my little daredevils...not so good with the sitting and waiting! :) I love the orange sky. Wonderful!
Those children are so beautiful. When you add polite and well behaved on top of that, you just might have the perfect child.
I got caught in that rain yesterday. Was down at the track, making sure that three horses going to Maryland got off OK. Naturally, just as we were beginning to load, it started to rain, and came down quite hard. Luckily, the horses were good. Thoroughbreds from the track are used to loading to go places, and these three just stepped right on the trailer, rain pelting down or not.
My hoodie is still drying out, lol.
