ALL AROUND THE TOWN....

When I got out to the barn, this ferocious creature was waiting there with Barb.  His name..."Dumbo."
She was taking care of him for the weekend.  After the horses were turned out, we closed up the barn and he had the run of the joint.  Such freedom.  Normally he lives on campus at RIT, with his owner (who is a student there).

A very beautiful morning, that started out at 42 degrees.

We have three English walnut trees, and today I started picking up the nuts.  We will let them dry for awhile and then I would like to crack and bag them. It's going to be a banner year...we will have bushels.

Seymour and Sid seem to be spending more and more time in the back yard.  So far, they can still fit through the slats of the picket fence and just come back from the barn whenever they want.

Speaking of barns....Gary has just about finished the second coat on the south side of the indoor.

A ton of tomatoes were ready to be picked....

There was a home football game down at the college today.  It was Gary's debut working in the press box.  I went down for lunch....a couple of Zwiegle Hots.  For several years the Alumni Association has set up a grill at home games and GIVES AWAY hot dogs, chips and drinks to people attending the game.  They must go through nearly two hundred (or more) in a short period of time.  What a sweet thing to do....the college kids love it.

I took this picture of Kelly for our daughter Stephanie.  They went to school together, and now she is the wife of the coach for today's game.  (They won, by the way).

Bruce and Ken are Professors at the college and they attend almost every game.

Below left is the college president.  He is also very supportive.

The parking lot was so jammed I parked at the middle school and rode my bike over to the campus.
This is my favorite building of all those in the Central School District....such character.

On the way home I stopped at a fall festival at the Farmer's Museum.  They had all kinds of tractors and other vehicles on display, along with vendors, food and fun for the kids.  It all started off with a race.

The band was sensational.  They would be perfect for a party in the barn.

Several people were dressed in period clothing. 

It's mum time in our neck of the woods.

Next I went over to Bob Stites place to help him set up a blog...then home to finish preparing dinner.

Sid and Seymour were relaxing on the back porch.

I set the table (did not have to do chores tonight) and finished making a giant batch of leek and potato soup.  Seeing that it was warmer outside than in, decided to eat out on the back porch.  Deb and Tom were over for dinner.

I picked them a basket of veggies to take home.

They brought their dog along, and Deb took her for a run out back before we ate.  When we started it was still light.

Dessert was just some fresh fruit and sharp cheese....simple.

By the time we finished it was dark.

Their dog Molly was very well behaved and can come back anytime.

Even tho Seymour thought he should climb up a tree.

It's pony time.
