Stuck in the 40s....

It's still windy and the morning glories are biting the dust.

 A good morning to get organized.

I soaked some pellet bedding for Abbe's stall and let it sit there exploding while I

cleaned out the feed room.  Had to wash all the plexi glass windows so Gary could install them...the girls will appreciate that. They were filthy and I broke one. 

 Karen replaced 3 posts in the front paddock.  Angel has been leaning on it to eat the flowers on the other side.

 Starting at 11:30, Mary and I drove around the countryside going door to door.  The wind was crazy wild and we were freezing.  When it started to rain we called it a day.

Our Art Opening is tomorrow night....

so Gary picked me a bucket of glads for the food table.

 Tucked the girls in a little early...nasty outside.

 Yay, on the weekends Karen and I return to our normal routines...

 so I did chores tonight and we both were in the barn this morning.

 Another simple dinner.

I made an apple/carrot/grape/peanut salad....

 and heated up the leftover leek and potato soup.

 Tomorrow will be another busy day.

Wild Winds....

We had our first fire in the wood stove last night.  It was in the 40s.

 This morning it was still grey and cold.

 The girls have started growing their winter coats...

 and tomorrow we are going to reinstall the plexiglass windows.

 Steady (and high) winds all day long.

Moved the farm wagon to it's place for the winter but had no 

desire to stay outside.

Gucci

 and Phoebe 

went with me to Weggies and the gas station.

They love to go for rides.

 As of late, I spend many hours doing campaign work.

Only a month to go.

Did manage pick some veggies near evening chore time.

 This squash was hiding under the rhubarb and I also picked more cucumbers.

Ate some raspberries that were nearby.

 While Karen did chores I grabbed a few shots of the girls.

 Still

 have to

 see them

 before

 they get tucked in.

 Don't like to miss out on this.

 While I went to a meeting

Gary and Jenny spent the evening in Rochester.

First they went to dinner,

 

and then went on an "Inside Down Town" tour.

 Here are a couple of the buildings they visited.

Jenny's birthday present to Gary.  They had a great time.

Not There Yet

Will I ever get used to my new schedule?

This was one ugmo morning.

Grey and in the high 40s.

 After chores I picked some apples for the girls.  They are not pretty on the outside, but perfect on the inside....and delicious.  Time to make some organic applesauce.

 Also picked cucumbers

 and some leeks.

Potato/leek/cheese soup for dinner.

 At 9:30 Gary called and had orders to tell me that Java was serving apple cider chicken salad today.  So of course I called Sally and we met there for lunch.

One of my favorites.

Did a little door to door after lunch and then went back to the farm.

 When we signed on for this Exhibition, I had no idea I was running for Town Board.

The good news, we have it set up for the opening Sunday night and hopefully we will get a crowd.

The soup was delish.  Everything on my plate (even the bread) was organic.  Leeks, potatoes, carrots,red peppers, cucumbers, onions, beets, tomatoes and chives all came from our gardens.

 I just had to go check on the girls, even tho Karen was doing chores.

 So used to being with them morning and night.
