The temperature went up to 83 today but the humidity was not bad. Our air quality was not normal but I did not smell any smoke.
The boys were in the big pasture when I went out for chores.
After the stalls were cleaned I picked the indoor and went out to do some errands. We will be having a lot of company for the next three weeks and I wanted to stock up on some food. Also got shavings at Country Max and these beautiful hydrangeas were in front of where I parked my car.
When I got back to the farm Gary went down to Brockport to pick up the Sunday Buffalo News and the Westside News. I was very interested in this article in the latter.
A few weeks ago there was an election in the Village and the Mayor and two trustees were defeated by a large margin. Those who won ran a campaign being very critical of a new boathouse that was built (via grants and donations) by a 501c3 Rowing Club. It has been a huge issue and I thought this letter to the editor was terrific. Hopefully, everything will work out and it will be a nice addition to our progressive community. We are located on the westside of Monroe County and Rochester is on the Eastside, with many upscale suburbs....big horse farms, fancy golf courses, several universities, many great shops and restaurants....and more. During the past administration, Brockport has improved in many ways (my opinion) through the great efforts of the mayor and her board. I am very supportive of growing our community and think this would add to it. Yesterday it was open to the public, and dozens of people signed up to learn how to row. I view it as a great opportunity for our residents and students and see a regatta in our future.
Little Wonder and I took it easy much of the day.
Jenny came up this afternoon to check out the canoe and
brought along the plants she plans to put on either side of the ice and drinks that will be served (from it).
She went home with a basket full of potatoes, onions, shallots, garlic and a couple green peppers. Last year at this time we were loaded with tomatoes.... Anyway, I forgot to give her the cabbage she was going to use for a stir fry tonight so LW and I drove it down to her house. He loved getting another ride.
Since we had several cucumbers, I decided to make a batch of relish.
Dinner? Bratwurst (with spicy mustard), leftover sweet and sour cabbage, with a side of noodles with butter. I had no large noodles, so I broke up some pieces of lasagna and it worked just fine.
Went out late for chores.
That's a wrap.
Night all.
