TUNED IN....

 The water trough had ice in it this morning.  First time.  Changed the blankets on Berlin and Abbe as I was not happy with the way the first two were fitting.  Much better.

 Sid was sound asleep in one of the run-ins.  A perfect spot as there is at least a foot of bedding (old but clean hay).

 The clematis blossom continues to survive...

 Gary cleaned and filled his bird feeders yesterday.  When I got back to the house there was a beautiful blue jay outside the kitchen window.

 The town dropped off a dump truck of mulched leaves for Gary to put on the garlic.

He's going to be busy for the next few days before they bring out a second load.

 Small class today, our first meeting back in the house.

 Tina's drawing of Tabby was done in colored pencil and it was a real challenge to figure out how to get the white whiskers to show.

 Boy did she figure it out....used white water colors and a very fine brush.

 Sandy and Mary are starting new projects and Judy continued working on a black and white design.

 After lunch I went down to the Community Center vote.

 No line and easy to get through the process.

 If you voted and had a sticker, you could go over to Tim Horton's and get a free donut.

 The afternoon light was off the charts.  What an upper.

 Gary had a couple of meetings starting at 5pm.  I made a pot of chili so he will have a late supper.

Chores just before dark.  I took off Berlin's boot tonight...the farrier is going to check her out tomorrow morning.

 The sun was setting when I got back to the house.

Tonight, my pals and I are going to continue lounging in front of the TV, hoping there will not be any complications in counting the votes as I'll fall asleep waiting.

 Sidney is trying to get me off the computer.

Here at Skoog Farm it is going to be a long one.

SLIM PICKINS

Another exciting day at Skoog Farm.  I'm feeling a lot better but must be in s  l   o  w.

We had a little gritty snow this morning but it did not last.  Just starting to adjust to this time change

and the girls are getting in the groove.  I go more by light than time.

 The dogs were on alert when Jack and Louise drove in the driveway.  They brought us 2 big bags of apples from their orchard.  Seymour didn't care (or he was in a zone).

I did go to Wegmans and got a ton of groceries.  Home in time for lunch and resumed my position in front of the fire.

Even tho it gets dark early, it is a very sweet time of day....love having the lights on in the barn.

 Much more motivated to make dinner.

BBQued drum sticks, sweet potatoes and a carrot and apple salad....pretty orange, but we were not in the mood for a green salad.

So much for having my art class in the studio.  Too cold (although it will be in the 60s Saturday, Sunday and Monday).  The good side....we always have a fire going in the house and it's very cozy.

I have made an effort to leave off political chatter on my blog, but I do hope you will go out and vote tomorrow.  Get involved.  Personally, I'm ready for a whole new way to run the election process (but that's a whole 'nuther story).  In England, they do it right.  Check it out.

HOME ON THE RANGE

You know I'm not feeling well when I only take a few photos.

Tried to grab some macro shots when I got up...

 then the pups and I went out to feed the girls.  It started snowing!

 That didn't stick around very long.  We reached a high of 37 degrees.

 Barb was going to come over for some hay this afternoon, so I went upstairs in the barn and opened the back door to see if she could get in there with her truck.  No problem.  Of course Abbe and Berlin came up to see me and probably would have been happy to come in the barn.

 It seemed nice and dry, with no damage from Sandy's wind and rain.

 Tried to get more macro shots on my way back to the house.

 Still not satisfied.  (Used some flower shots I'd already taken....see post below)

 Spent all day bumming it in front of the fire and on the couch.

It was getting dark so I finally went out to do chores.  Decided to soak Berlin and leave her cold turkey for the night.  As usual, she was a very good girl.

 Both horses and blankets were filthy.

 Sweet girls...

 Did I want to make dinner?

 A salad with oranges and bananas, leftover cauliflower and mac and cheese.

Pretty sad, but that's where I'm at.

SUNDAY STILLS CHALLENGE-LET'S TAKE A CLOSER LOOK

I have had the most success taking macro shots of flowers.  The light made all the difference.
