ABOVE AND BEYOND THE CALL OF DUTY

As Seymour and I lounged around most of the day....Gary was busting his butt trying to finish cleaning the upstairs....doing laundry, dishes and more.
Didn't I get a call from my friend Judy, who wanted to come up and help with the house.
She spent about 3 hours cleaning the studio for class tomorrow.  The floors, the tables, the windows....
She is something special and works like crazy.
Fed her a light lunch, and she was off to Tai Chi with Sally.

When the woman came to draw blood for the lab, she did not forget cookies for the pups.  They know they have to sit in order to get one.
It was very hot outside and we kept the inside cool with a couple of fans.  These birds were happy to find some water.

Berlin and Abbe have been peeing their brains out in the stalls, so Gary had to go buy more bedding.
He has not had one minute to relax.

Time for another round of therapy.
Night all.

BELLE/BELLA

DO YOU REMEMBER BELLE (NOW BELLA)?

Belle lived at Skoog Farm for almost a year before her owner (Jill) sold her.
She ended up going to a spectacular facility called the Double G Ranch and I am determined to get over to see her and the indoor they will be constructing next month.  One of the boarders there bought Belle for her husband and when she arrived, she quickly adapted to her new lifestyle.  Long story short, the stable owner ended up buying her from the boarder for her 5 YEAR OLD daughter and this is how things are developing.  Does this beautiful child have a future in riding?  Is her Mom not a fabulous trainer/instructor? And is Bella one in a million?

THE LONG SIESTA

I took a long nap this morning and a long nap this afternoon.  Just felt good.  Have cut back on my pain pills and today seemed more clear headed.  Tonight dinner was being delivered by Margay and Ulpi and they were going to join us.
Gary vacuumed and picked up around the house....I set the table.
Ulpi loves to cook and brought us so many different dishes....healthy dishes.  Rice, snap peas, spinach, lentils....all kinds of veggies beautifully seasoned and delish.

The temperature dropped and after dinner....

it was time to pick spinach.  We don't let anyone leave without a bag or two.

I could not resist taking a picture of all the bowls we emptied.
Once again, we were very fortunate to have friends that would do something like this for us.
Great conversation and I even sat at the table (with my leg up and iced).
Thank you Margay and Ulpi.  What a pleasure.
Night all.

NOTHIN' OUTRAGEOUS

This morning Abbe was sacked out under the shed roof....that was a first.
Went out and picked a little spinach and checked out the tomatoes and peppers which are doing well.
Gary went to Weggies and later Judy dropped off some mangoes.  Fresh fruit and salads coming up.
It was a very beautiful day and Gary got the lawn mown.

The yard is starting to shape up.
He needs to catch a break and will be very happy to have me back in gear.  I can't wait to get on the lawn mower.

By the way, I am officially being sent to Agape this coming week for physical therapy.  Can't believe my home therapy is just about over...I'll miss Don, who has been great!  Now Gary will have to turn into a taxi driver.  I'm sure he is thrilled.
Night all.

OH NO, THERAPY DAY...

Tonight I am starting by showing off a photo taken by my friend Sally.  She hopes to turn it into a piece of art one of these days and I love the detail she captured.
Gary and Woody worked on the gardens again today and we had a special delivery lunch courtesy of none other than the woman who took the picture above.  Balboas from Barbers.  We really pigged out and I actually sat at the table (with my leg up and iced).
Don came for a therapy session around 3.  I made sure that the pain meds were taken and did my exercises late morning.  Can't help it!  I dread the two tough ones and the last brought me to tears.
However (Brett) I measured to 92 and am still straight and alive to talk about it.  My case manager wants to send me to Agape...maybe as soon as next week.  I thought it was because I was not where I was supposed to be....but no!  It's because I have good strength and am doing well.
When I looked out at the horses, Abbe was running around chased by flies minus her mask.  So, I went out and put one back on her.  Didn't feel too bad.
The next thing I knew, my name was being called by Greg T. .  He had a flat tire on his bike and was looking for an air pump.  Fortunately we had one.  Remember Greg?  He plays the piano at all the first fridays and also accompanies our chorus.
Around 4:30 our friend Judy C. (from Florida...lives here part of the year) brought us one of her spectacular pies...strawberry rhubarb.  If you could only get here, I would share it with you.
I really need to ice my knee.  More tomorrow.
Night all.
