The west side of our house gets full sun all afternoon and right now it is almost 85 degrees here in the library (6:30pm). We have French doors and can close off this part of the house to keep the kitchen cool with a window air conditioner and fans. I can't stand it!!! I have a fan on me now and turned on the window air conditioner in the downstairs bedroom. No more open windows.
I'm trying to convince Little Wonder to stay on the bed so he can cool off.
This morning it was about 75 in the kitchen, and I got it down to 71. Much cooler than it was outside....a balmy 83 degrees by 8am.
I did four things today. #1 Picked 3 beets, lettuce and grabbed one onion.
#2 Made a jar of pickled beets.
#3 Grabbed LW and drove to Brockport to do some banking (drive thru). Of course he loved the ride and stayed in the front seat where the air was blasting out on him.
On the way home, this was the temperature. How many more days of this?
#4. I made breakfast for dinner.

What ever happened to you getting central air? I think you could really save more money than running the window air conditioners. Ours runs thru our furnace and keeps the house cool.
Hope you get some relief. This morning we had at least 4 inches of rain and wicked winds.
The temperature is 66 F, but I see trees down and other things that will ask for my attention when it gets light.
I only run the air conditioner in the room we are in…not the whole house. It would cost a fortune to get central air for a house this size.
That is a lot of rain and a huge drop in temperature.
Ugh, you guys are really stuck under the 'heat dome'....we're hot, but actually a bit cooler than you guys! Continue to be smart and work in the AM and stay in afterwards!
