The Opening

If this is going to be our summer, I am in deep tapioca.  85 degrees and I could really feel it.

At 8:15 I got a call from my friend Hanny's daughter, asking me to do a drawing of a tree for an event she is working on.  Gary had already picked me some rhubarb that I was making into sauce....

and then I did the drawing.  People attending that gathering will be putting their thumb prints on the branches, and then it will be framed and gifted.
By 10:30 Little Wonder and I delivered it.
He loves every opportunity to get in the car.

When we got back home I decided to mow the lawn as it is supposed to rain tomorrow.  Hot hot hot.

I had reserved some rhubarb for what was supposed to be a batch of muffins and did not have any cupcake papers so
I just put the batter in a pan and added a few fresh strawberries.
At 5 we left for the art opening at the Hart Gallery.

Michele Ashlee-Meade Shares the Perspective Behind the Camera

(Here are a few clips about Michelle, taken from and article in the local Penny Saver, written by Sarah Credeno)

“My father saw some of the photos I took and said, ‘That’s it, this is your artistic gift.’ He helped me buy my first professional camera, and I haven’t stopped since,” says Michele Ashlee-Meade, photographer, hairstylist, and humanitarian.

Michele captures spare, emotionally honest moments of people in the simple act of being. She says, “I like to photograph anything that reveals something about how people live, struggle, and celebrate. Most of the time I’m drawn to the person, though, not necessarily what they are doing or where they are. That’s just a bonus if I capture the landscape or their situation.”

Michele Ashlee-Meade’s upcoming show opens at Hart Gallery 27 in Brockport on Friday, June 5, 2026 from 5-8 pm. The evening is free and open to the public.

When we arrived,  Julie T. (one of Stephanie's longtime friends) was there with her daughter standing in front of our pictures. (Later, Michelle told us that Jenny bought them).

All those being photographed wrote something about themselves....and that made each photo so special.  Here's an example.

Of course many of our pals were there.

Jenny stopped on her way to volunteer at an event in Hamlin.  Here she is with Brice, Michelle's husband and my former student.  You have met him before as he and his band were here years ago doing a photoshoot for a record album cover that included my horse, Abbe.  I think it was called White Pony and she was a white POA.
Michelle looked like a peanut in this photo.
Paul Kemblowski (where's Shelly?) was there with Pete and his wife....so good to talk with them.
Miles and Michelle came out from Rochester.
There was music!  This is a recent grad of St. Bonaventure and he was great.

Another big plus for Brockport.  An active gallery, outstanding photographer and lots of community support.  Some small towns just have it!

Night all.
