My Lucky Day

However...it never stopped raining.

When I was in college I started playing the guitar...mostly folk music on an old one with metal strings.  I don't even remember where I got it.  In January of '65 I went to grad school at Syracuse University and bought a fabulous Guild Mark III Classical guitar at the bookstore.  At the time, I was a dorm director (in a big house) and used to go into the bathroom that was all tiled, to play.  The sound was great.  Never had any lessons....just messed around.....for decades.  After getting married I did not play it much and it stayed in a closet for over 30 years.  Almost 10 years ago I found out there was a group of buskers playing music at a local gallery and it was open to anyone.  Had my guitar checked out, bought a new tuner and strap and decided to give it a try.  Well!  I had forgotten how wide the neck was on the guitar and could hardly hold the strings down.  That's about the time I heard about the Rochester Ukulele Rochester and went to a local concert.

After that, I decided that a ukulele would be much easier to play and chose the baritone (bigger) as the strings were tuned like the top four on a guitar.  That gave me a jump. Once again...no lessons.  I printed out music and diagrammed each chord and continued messing around.
Fast forward to now.  I was in a band with four others for 6 years and when that ended I was lost without music.  After a year, called up some friends and now we jam regularly.  So what does all this have to do with anything?  A little over a month ago I introduced the uke to my friend John who wanted to learn to play and loaned him one of mine to practice on.  He loves it and this morning we went into Rochester to buy him one at Burnunzio Uptown Music (that's were I had purchased two of mine).
Got to the door (lights were on) and it was locked! Not opening until 2 and that was three hours later.
So we looked through the window and I pointed him in the direction of the ukes.  This is where my lucky day started.  Someone saw us and opened the door.  I said "do you want to sell us a uke?" and he said "sure!" They were there for people who had appointments and it worked out perfectly.

If you are into stringed instruments....this is like a candy store.

After we tried out a few.... John bought a beauty along with a bag, strings, a music stand and a uke stand.  I know what he was doing this afternoon.

After that, he took us out for lunch at a place called Crisp.  Loved the vibe.
We both ordered a BLT sandwich with avocado.  So good.
That's when I noticed that my keychain was no longer on my purse.  It's the piece on the right and was made for me by Sabine when Berlin was put down at age 37 (made from her tail and means a lot to me).   So good old John walked back to the car to see if he could find it....nope.  Nowhere.  Then, he called Bernunzios and taa daa!  They found it!  More good luck.
Got home and had some chair time with Little Wonder.
Leftovers for dinner.
After we ate I took LW out back as it was not raining....
and waited for him on the kitchen porch.

On the left, is the Bird of Paradise the way it used to be, and on the right ....there was a new leaf (I only cut it down a couple weeks ago).

Now I am full and feel like a nap
Night all.
