Buddy Front Right Rebel Front Left

I guess I am losing my mind, worrying about my horse.  He is consuming my brain.  Fortunately the weather was not too bad compared to a week ago.  A high of 36 degrees.

It was nice to have sunshine part of the day.

Jenny and I went to a meeting at the Library this morning and then she came up to help me get Rebel rewrapped.
Ironically he removed his own boot by stepping on it so I could give him a quick soak in warm water before rewrapping.
Jenny gave both boys a quick brush while that was going on.
It did not take me nearly as long to do the poultice thing today and they were turned back out.
I still think it is an abscess in Rebel's heel.  He can walk on it, but when he is standing he puts his foot forward and lifts his heel.  Still slow and gimpy.....poor sweet boy.
Gave them a little more hay and took the afternoon off....had a long conversation with my most knowledgeable horse pal.
Tonight it took awhile for Rebel to be motivated enough to come in to eat.
Buddy went in first and usually it is the opposite.
I sure hope this saga does not go on very long.

Got them tucked in and Little Wonder was happy to be out there naked tonight.

So far not too much snow has melted....

but with a little shoveling, the main part of the "airstrip" is looking good.

Earlier I made some bbqued pork in a crockpot, so dinner was easy.  Made some coleslaw and that was that.
Night all.

PS

My Mom was born on this day in 1920.  It was also the birthday of my Nanna (her mother).
Two strong women who are missed by many.  They both had such an influence on me.

A Change In The Weather?

Yep!  Sunshine all day long.  Started out pretty cold but ended up at around 28 degrees.  Other than going to Wegmans, my day was very quiet and all about the horses.....again.

Little Wonder had to squint, it was so bright when we finished morning chores.
Gary went out for coffee.  Scott stopped up and we chatted for quite awhile.....a nap....then to the store.
Chores at 5:30.  Buddy ok and Rebel still favoring his front right.  I will redo his wrap tomorrow and see if there are any signs of an abscess breaking.

It was still light when I walked back to the house.  Nice!
We had huge chicken Cesar salads for dinner.  So good.
Night all.

Ball in the House

My morning started with 5 more inches of snow and I shoveled a path from the house to the barn. The saga continues with Rebel, but Buddy seems ok.

A couple days ago I put some old hay down in case there was ice and today it was a pain in the butt clearing a path.
I also cleared another one where the horses walk to the water trough.
They don't seem to like the hay I was feeding and left a lot.
Of course Rebel had to hobble out to the pasture and Buddy followed.

Can you believe how high the snow has piled up?

Sid likes sitting on the shelf above the heat run.

At 1 I was at the library playing bridge.  Skip and I were far from first place.
When I got back to the farm Gary and Little Wonder were taking a nap.

Chores at 5:15.  Rebel was still putting his front left forward.  How long is it going to take to get through what I think is an abscess?

Got the boys tucked in.

It was another purple night.

Leftover spags for dinner.
At 7:30 we were at the Tower Fine Arts building at the college for a concert.

This group was started 28 years ago and only one of the originals is still in it.  They are located in the Boston area and have performed in and out of the country.
Below, is the man that started Ball in the House.

What a terrific a Cappella group!
Below is an example of their sound that I found online (as I was unable to take photos or record during the performance).

A nice change.  We seldom go out at night at this time of the year.
Night all.
