Woke up to snow, lots of wind, then sunshine and melting. It's supposed to hit 60 degrees on Thursday. Today felt like 18.
After chores I did a couple of things around the house and went to the Library for a meeting of the Town of Sweden Democratic Committee at 10:30. I am now in charge of a spaghetti dinner/fundraiser and have a lot of help (not until May). Things are so crazy in our country, we are hoping for a good turnout. Today 6 new people attended our meeting as they are extremely concerned and want to do something that might make a difference. This is a critical time and people need to get involved. Many years ago I ran for office (Town Board) and was elected along with a woman I had not known. We became great friends as we were there for 4 year terms. Our community had been run by Republicans for over 150 years, so it was a shocker when two Democrats won. Of course it was not an easy time, but I do not have one regret and learned so much. We ran for a second term and got beaten as they did everything possible to get rid of us. Fortunately....we were able to get some things accomplished while we were there and thoroughly enjoyed working with the staff at the Town Hall. We were their best advocates. As you can tell, I am a political junkie and have been involved one way or the other since the late 60s. Our daughter is currently the chief of Staff for a State Assemblyman. Prior to that, the chief of Staff for Democrats in the County Legislature and before that, a congressional aide. We're in it!
Got back to the farm around noon and by then the sun was brilliant. I dug out all the notebooks I had put together for our campaigns and have a million ideas for the next local election.
I'd say this is a pretty formal photo of Little Wonder.
Almost 6 when I went out to tuck in the boys.
How about the sky?
Have you ever seen two dirtier horses? They are doing this to me every single day. The mud sticks to their hair like crazy and they are shedding.
No regular dinner. Two fried eggs, a bagel and oj.
Night all.
PS
Now they say writing postcards is better than making phone calls.
That's going to be next on my agenda. Can you believe how stupid they have been when it comes to firing people and rehiring them. Do you think it is on purpose? Kudos to Canada, Mexico, Germany, France and Poland for reminding people about the importance of democracy. I think I heard something from Sweden too. They all recognize exactly what kind of a leader Trump is and must be mortified by his actions. Many of my friends who live out of the country are just as concerned as we are.
Don't give up!

The words my dear friend Walter said so many times, and was going to have as a title to his memoirs, that he didn't get to finish. From Alfred Tennyson " To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield" I hope, too, that these words are with you all as you strive to do the very best .
Thank you for all you are doing to support and protect our democracy.
I'm going with the postcards too.
Oh as for dirty? Mine get muddy every day and then they go find a sandy spot and roll more. It takes off the mud and loose hair...then I have almost clean mules again.
Soon I will be currying them and pulling the burrs out of their tails and ready for the big shedding.
I would frame that photo of LW! You really are in it. I'll do the postcards. I read Norway's citizens are boycotting things from the US. I was going to say things made in the US, but we know there is little of that. I don't know that the people in charge are actually capable of planning this chaos.
