Opal, better known as Pony, was born on January 22nd, 1980. Her Dam was Babe and her Sire was an Arabian stallion, Pequla. She was at a farm out on Moscow Road near Lake Ontario, and was owned by an Art Professor from SUNY Brockport. When his wife suddenly passed away, he gave up the farm and all the animals. Our oldest daughter, Stephanie, pitched in half of her price ($75 she had saved) and we paid the rest. She was delivered to the farm in a blizzard at the age of 2 and her owner rode in the trailer with her. Jennifer, our horsey daughter, did all of the training, and before we knew it, Pony was giving riding lessons to young children. At that time, everything was done bareback with a "necklace" for the kids too use for balance. Our grandchildren still ride her and she takes good care of them....second generation, same pony. She has also been called "Noodles."
The first picture is a painting by Pat Turcotte, an artist friend from Lakewood, NY. It was from Jennifer's wedding, which was held at the farm. Pony had a very special flowered necklace, and Ariana was the flowergirl. The third photo is Pony as she looked a few days ago...not bad for 28.

She is beautiful, and I like how you mixed the media. You know I know next to nothing about horses (four legs, right?), but I think your horses are long-lived and happy because of your tender care.
