Phoebe is assisting tonight. Remember Joe, the Belgian who couldn't get up a few days ago? Well, I put a nice new blanket on him (not as bulky as his size 84 Rambo) and will ya look at it? That horse rolled again!!!! And apparently he was able to hall his butt back up!

Do they roll because the coat bothers them or just to scratch?
When I first saw horses rolling (over 50 years ago) I got the impression they were doing it for the heck of it! It just felt good... like a cat stretching... simple physical joy!
Maybe it's a kind of equine do-it-yourself back massage?
