BEFORE THE LIGHTS GO OUT....

Last night we had strong wind warnings and more this morning.  Could have gusts over 50 mph.

Can't wait for a tree to knock down the wires somewhere.  At least the sun is out and we have not been hit like some other states.  Just checked in with thecrazysheeplady (Kentucky) and everything is ok at Equinox Farm.

I started taking pictures at 6:20 this morning, and this batch ends a little before nine.  Figured I would post something now, just in case.  Can always finish it later.

 It was blowing like crazy by 8, so I put the hay in nets and set them up in the indoor.

Fortunately the girls came over when I called them.

 I also put a net in the run-in by the stalls.  Berlin came over to see what I was doing.

 By now we had Colorado skies.

 It will be interesting to see how long these guys last in the indoor.

Now it is almost 10:30 and the temperature is starting to drop.  It is still windy and the blue skies are turning grey.

Will finish this post later.  Am going to make a big pot of Irish vegetable soup.

BUSY....THAT'S MORE LIKE IT....

 You never know what to expect with the weather around here.  Rain/snow/wind/sun/MUD.

 Jill and Chester arrived to help with chores and we were done in no time.

What a handsome boy.

He loves his Mama and having a real home.

 Forgot to post a SkyWatch photo.  It was not very pretty today.

 Lots of geese.

 Seeing that it ended up being pretty mild I was able to use the hose to fill up the water trough.
 Not frozen anymore.

Had an 11:30 appointment with the massage therapist.  Hot stones!  Hot Dog!

Grabbed a sandwich and at 1 went over to Tai Chi....my second visit.

Started off with the same two Qi Gong warm ups and then moved on to Form 24.  This time I tried it and managed to stick it out.  We did it twice and that helped.  (That would be me in the pink).  I think I am really going to like this.

 Home for a couple of hours...picked the paddock.

This was First Friday at the Alumni House.  Just when I was ready to go down, Gary came home not feeling well.  So, I went down anyway and grabbed a few photos.

 As usual, Greg was there playing the piano.  You may recognize him from our Chorus rehearsals.  He also plays for us and directed when Mary Ellen was not there.  So good at this.

 The usual fare....

 And lots of familiar faces.

 On the way home, had to pull into Bernie and Karen's driveway so I could take a picture of these little yellow flowers that were in full bloom....so early! 

 

 Meanwhile back at the farm,  the house was dark as Gary had fallen asleep in front of the fire.

Went out to do evening chores...

and was back in the house by 6:30.  Not cooking dinner tonight.  Brought home some stuff from First Friday for Gary.  Tim, you would have enjoyed it!
(Our canoe is waiting for you to come up and go fishing).

THE WINTER VERSION OF DOG DAYS....

 To the barn....

 Chester is lookin' good.  Jill took him to see the Vet yesterday and he has gained 7 pounds!

 He stands show ready a lot.

 Well Brett, this was another ugmo morning.  We are deep into mud.

 I don't know what I would do without that shed roof.

 Isn't the paddock lovely?  One inch of rain equals 15 inches of snow.

 It took a little longer for us to do chores this morning as I put fresh pellets in the stalls.

 Of course all the dogs had muddy feet.  And didn't Chester move from his back seat to mess up Jill's.

 I had to run several errands (of course Phoebe and Gucci wanted to ride shotgun) and when I got home the sun appeared.

 Very temporary.  More rain in the afternoon.

 It's a good thing my $4 flowers are still brightening up the kitchen.

 Gary went to Buffalo to watch a basketball tournament (his old high school team was in the semis).

I went out to do chores.

 Guess what the ponies were doing today.

 I took this picture when I finished chores and my breath appeared!  Didn't think it was that cold.

 Looked different when the flash was off.  At any rate, those girls got tucked in for the night.

Had leftover soup for dinner...Now that I'm feeling better, will be hungry later!
