I truly do not think where I have been in NZ when it has been that cold, and as I convert the F to C, realise just how frozen your fingers would have been. Roll on summer up north, as we swelter in 32 C in the shade today, equal to 90F. and we are hoping for cooler days to arrive any time soon, tomorrow would be so welcome.
I've discovered that my Grandmother's hand made double mittens worked wonderfully with little gloves underneath. Grandma covered her mittens with a layer of scrap wool which adds warmth and strength.
