Still crispy and no snow.
Phoebe went back in the house and Little Wonder stuck it out with me in the barn.
Around noon we had company. Late summer Gary traded some of his garlic
for apples and peaches from the Watts Farm. Karen, in turn, gave the garlic to her friend Gene. Today Karen brought him over to meet us and deliver a jar of his special marinated garlic. We were chatting away when Chet Fery (the Bread Man) stopped in with several loaves of bread.
He gave a loaf to each of us and I could not resist slicing one up and serving it
with olive oil/a tiny splash of balsamic vinegar/pepper/Romano cheese. We happened to have some roasted red peppers and hard boiled eggs in the frig so we turned it in to an "old country" lunch.
I have written about Chet in the past. He has made and given away almost
90,000 (yes, that is 90,000) loaves of bread over the years. Now he is in great demand
and makes presentations (some include making bread with Seniors, children, private parties and more) including one this week in Louisiana at a convention. Within minutes we were all talking about memories from our past that involved family, the smell of bread, customs in Italy and Greece, and much more. A real connection and a true example of an act of kindness.
He has a blog called BREADTIME STORIES.
When he has joined us at the college for our panel discussions, he always brings enough bread for every student, panel member and the Professor.
A real gift to our community.
It was a real pleasure to meet Gene and I hope he will stop by again. He fits right
in and so does Karen (she is on the Board of Directors for Oak Orchard Health with Gary).
The more we talked, the more we had in common.
Today I had to throw out some of the flowers on my kitchen table, but was able to save a few.
It will be three weeks on Sunday! Can't believe they have lasted this long.
I did not have to make dinner tonight as Gary came home last night with leftovers from the Christmas dinner meeting he had attended. Chicken French, Roasted veggies, Meatballs and pasta.
All I had to do was make a salad. "Grampa Sam's" did the rest.
The fire is going....
Phoebe is relaxing....
Little Wonder found one of his balls...
hibiscus blossom #3 will be open tomorrow morning
for a photo shoot (the flash on my camera did not do it justice)
and I need to get back to my book.
Night all.

Another wonderful day at your place. The hibiscus is doing so well, and the other flowers, I often wonder how they last so long indoors? I have cut the first Gladioli of the season.
Wow, what a beautiful day you had. We will be getting down right cool soon. I sort of am looking forward to it. It allows those incredible ice formations to form in our area.
Wow what fun and such interesting people.
Enjoy!
