Traveling With Sara and Bea

This was a very special day for me.  A bright start to the morning.

Gary met a friend for breakfast and I made an "Apple Betty Pie" for dessert tonight.
Picked some flowers while it was baking.

Around 2:45 our friend Sara and her dog Bea arrived.  They left Kentucky at 5am.  Little Wonder was very tuned in through the dirty kitchen storm door.
Sara grabbed a quick cup of coffee and then the three of us were off to Acorn Works Fiber to pick up some roving Sara had sent to Diane.  I got in the car with Bea
and Gary and Sara figured out the directions.
She always travels with a couple of sheep in her car.
We had no trouble finding the place.

Do you know what roving is?  Wool from several of Sara's sheep had been processed and now it was ready to spin.  There were 7 bags.

Bea was very patient, as I was given a tour.  Learned a lot!

We headed home around 4 and when we got back to the farm Sara, Bea and Gary talked a lot about garden stuff.
While they were doing that, I got dinner ready.
Bea supervised.

Dinner was delicious.  Right then, the sky turned pink and I had to grab some photos.

We spent some time by the fire before Sara and Bea headed off to Robin's for some more sheep stuff.  Our visit was short but very sweet.  I met Sara through blogging almost 15 years ago.  The first time we actually met in person, she was coming to this area to help a friend (Robin) who was birthing a huge number of new lambs.  I told her I would make her dinner if she had time to stop by and she was welcome to spend the night.  Later, she told me she had decided not to commit to staying overnight as we had never met (and her husband thought she was nuts to even consider it).   Well, we really hit it off and have been in touch this whole time.  (She decided Gary and I were OK and did stay). You just know when it's right.  I wish she and Tim lived next door....
Night all.

Rovings, ready to spin , the better way to have your own fleeces prepared , Just a tad more than " 3 bags full". Yes, I too have friends and family that I wish I lived closer to. Not an option for them to move, we would have to do the distance. It must be great when a friend and her doggie come and everyone gets together.
