No More Spa Days at Skoog Farm

It's been a rough 24 hours. This morning Rebel was put down and Buddy was moved to my friend Andrea's farm so he can be with other horses.  I spent most of last night in the barn and by this morning, before 6am, I knew that I had to call the vet and make arrangements.  Jenny and Scott were here for support and Andrea arrived with a trailer to collect Buddy and take him to her farm.  This woman has been here for every horse problem I have ever had and I am so grateful.  The vet arrived at 10, the trailer was here by 10:15, Rebel was put down by 10:30 and we made sure Buddy was able to see him before leaving the farm.  I sent him off with all kinds of blankets, supplements, hay and more.  Rebel was picked up by 11:15 and I could not watch that part.  Have been crying all day, but know it was the right thing to do.

5:45am

Buddy knew something was up.
I put out a post on FB and spent the afternoon reading so many thoughtful messages....crying the whole time.  As if that was not enough, a beautiful bouquet arrived....
with this message from our neighbors.  That finished me off.

I will never forget this duo....loved them both so much.
So glad Rebel came into my life.
Tonight I did not have to do chores....and tomorrow I don't have to get up a 6.  It's so empty out there after taking care of horses for 46 years.  This will be life changing for me.
Night all.

PS
Alice and I just had a good long cry and will be taking Spa Day out to Glen Darrach Farm to give Buddy some extra attention.

Oh Lori my heart breaks for you. It’s so sad to lose such a part of your life. I am so sorry. I have always had much respect for the loving care you’ve given your pets. There’s a special place in Heaven for you. Kathy
