Feeling Bad for the Horses

This weather is kicking my butt.  Before going to bed last night I took warm water out to the barn (11pm) and gave Rebel and Buddy more hay.

The barn temperature was around 20 and the water was not frozen.

This morning the temperature was 1 and it felt like -24.  The wind had howled all night and the snow had blown all over the place.  I picked the stalls, fed the boys and left them inside.

This video does not show how awful it was.
I went back out at 2pm with more warm water and gave them a little more hay.
I don't remember a winter where I worried so much about the horses.
Little Wonder made it outside for about 5 minutes.

He and Sid preferred being inside.  No fire today as we wanted to make sure the furnace kept the pipes from freezing.
At 5 I turned the boys out for about 15 minutes while I reset their stalls.

I sure hope there is some serious improvement tomorrow.

Gorgeous color tonight.  It was a little after 6 so it was dark.

This is how our driveway looked.  Hopefully Gary can get out the snow blower tomorrow.
Open faced cheeseburgers with onions for dinner.  Gary's dill pickles and some roasted potatoes.
Night all.

Between the weather and the news, this has been one of my least favorite days.

That looks horrific, and I hope tomorrow is a lot better. For you all, 2 and 4 legged.
