Company

No rain, but chilly and grey for the most part.

After chores I ran a couple of errands and saw these gorgeous peonies at Wegmans.

When I got back to the farm I made an apple dessert as Mary Pat is joining us for a few days and I thought we should have something after dinner.

Gary went with several friends down to the college for a football game and plaque dedication on behalf of Bob Boozer, who coached football there many decades ago.

Little Wonder and I binged on a Netflix series.....7 Seconds.
Mary Pat arrived just as I was going out to feed the horses.   Finally, some color in the sky.

Chili and a salad for dinner.

I'll get some serious photos tomorrow!  Mary Pt has been one of my best models over the years.
The dessert tasted great.
Night all.

Double Duty

All that rain.....just what I expected.  When I went out to the barn this morning it was windy and in the 30s, but it was not even spritzing.  Time to put the sheets on Rebel and Buddy.

I got their stalls cleaned and set up.....

and it was raining so hard by 11:30 I put them back in for the afternoon.

Went out at 5:15 to set up the stalls again and they were not interested in venturing out.  They just stayed in the run-in and waited for me to finish.  Smart boys.
Got them tucked back in....

and went back to the house to make pancakes for dinner.
Gary worked outside for a little while bringing up more wood for the fire and putting some stuff in the Studio for the winter.  I bagged up some potatoes and tried to make an area for Sidney at the top of the stairs to the basement so he can have a hideout when he's outside.  Other than that, was not too productive.

I hope everyone is voting.  Do you have early voting where you live?
Night all.

A Replay

It started raining last night and it continued all day long.  I put Rebel and Buddy out while I cleaned their stalls.

They were back inside within an hour.  It felt like 35 degrees and they did not need to get soaked.  It's almost time for me to put on their rainsheets.

So dark.  I left the radio on for their entertainment.
Bridge at the library at 1.  Tied for first place.
Had to stop at Wegmans on the way home so I could get more pumpernickel bread.  Had all the ingredients for a replay.
As soon as I got back to the farm, prepared tonight's beet pulp and turned Buddy and Rebel out while I cleaned and set up the stalls again.  They ventured out to the pasture and had time to get wet.  At least they had a chance to move around and have a few bites of grass.
They heard me dump their grain in the feeders and were happy to go back in.  It's a good thing they have huge stalls.

Put together a couple of Reubens....
and they were even better than yesterday's.
Had picked some straw flowers for our kitchen table yesterday... not too many choices out in the gardens.
Little Wonder avoided going outside all day.  He did get wet during morning chores and was not too excited about it.

Night all.
