We Got Slammed

This morning was pretty normal.  A little windy....no snow.

Sidney ventured out to the barn and finally discovered that the nice, clean, furry bed in the feed room was pretty comfortable.  I hope he sleeps there more when he is in the barn.
Little Wonder needed his black coat.
Steph, Finn and Coop went in to see Kevin and Nana Pat around 11 and I drove down to Dunn's Furniture to buy a couple of twin beds that I want to make into a king.  When we moved to the farm in 1981 we had purchased a new queen sized bed for Steph and after it was delivered, we could not get it to fit up the stairs.  Gary took out the stairs, got the bed up there and rebuilt the stairs.  It has been there all this time, as we have to cut the box spring apart to get it down.  Well, I must not have been using my brain, 'cause it took me this long to figure out that we could make the change.  So, hopefully it will happen next week.  We have 5 bedrooms and with the kids long gone, the upstairs does not get a lot of use.  I will be very grateful if they can be delivered before Daniela, Ariana and Kurt get here next week.  Anyway, when I left the farm there was no snow and I did not wear boots.  By 1pm it started snowing like crazy, the roads were covered and the visibility was terrible.

As soon as I got home, I went out to put Buddy and Rebel in their stalls.

Rebel had gone in the barn and Buddy ended up under the shed roof.

They were more than happy to be in their suites.

Meanwhile back in the ranch....the fire was going and we were happy to be warm.

Fortunately, Steph was able to get Finn and Coop home and got back to the farm in spite of the blizzard conditions.
She wanted to get some exercise and went out to shovel.  It was too cold (felt like 4 degrees) for Bandit, so he watched from the kitchen.
Did a little laundry and took it easy until chore time.
Turned the boys out for a short time while I reset the stalls for dinner.  Plenty of warm water.

LW did not go to the barn with me but took a quick potty break when I was finished.
Bandit watched.

Naan bread pizzas for dinner.  Nothing fancy.

Hopefully we won't get much more snow.
Night all.

Semi Comatose

A very grey day in the low 30s.

Little Wonder did not need to wear his black coat.

We had Christmas Eve leftovers for lunch and that finished us off.  After we ate we all needed a nap and no dinner tonight.  Whatever we can find is it.  I did manage to finish my book....another sleeping pill.
The sun came out for a few minutes mid afternoon.
Chores at 5:15.  So dark.
The boys must have rolled a lot today, as their blanket are starting to get dirty.

Night all.

Christmas Eve Smorgie

A busy day.

Steph and Jenny went for a walk this morning....Gary went to coffee.
When she got home, Steph took a break while she was making yet another batch of cookies!
So good!
Set the table, made rice pudding, Swedish meatballs and took an afternoon nap.
Chores at 5.

In the low thirties.  It was really a beautiful day.

Jen, Scott, Finn and Coop arrived around 6:30.

Finished getting everything together for dinner.....
then it was time to chow.

Limpa rye bread, cranberries, Swedish korv (sausage), scalloped potatoes, rice pudding, Brussels sprouts and a salad with pears and apples.
Grampa was on a roll telling stories.

After dinner we went back by the fire and eventually had some cookies.
We are minimalists when it comes to presents.  (The Swedes always celebrate Christmas Eve).  Moola and Buffalo Bills hats were on the agenda along with organic coffee.  Scott got a level and we got a bag full of goodies (like almonds, apricots, jam and a gift certificate to Tony D's).  Simple.  The main thing was being together.

I could not get these three all on the same page...but we had a good time trying!

It was all about the hats.

Night all.  Poor Gary is still out there doing dishes.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas!
