THE NORTHAMPTON DRIVING SOCIETY

This afternoon I went to a clinic at Glen Darach Farm to watch demonstrations for properly harnessing a horse and learning how to grease the wheels on a cart or carriage.  Great information and well presented.  This is a real service to all club members and the turnout was terrific.

Lori,

It looks very interesting. We saw your trailer hitched to the truck last night and figured you had resumed lessons again. We joked with Justine maybe we should take up driving, it's harder to fall off and more suitable for an old beginner like me.

I went this morning to see about a trail ride, but it just seemed to muddy/slippery and didn't want to risk hurting a sound horse, so some grooming and bathing with very warm damp towels was the order of the day. Kim showed us some technique to do it and how to get hot water at the barn, and Winnie purred almost like a kitten, she loved it. Once dry she did not want to go to the pasture as if she knew she was too pretty, she wanted to head toward where we put the trailer. Kim laughed and said "she thinks she's going to a show". Then installed the replacement barn door I made for them. I had fun doing it old school, mortis and tenon and tongue and groove for strength. I'm trying to be a little more like Gary, talent (LONG way to go). :-)
