YOU'VE GOT TO SHOP AROUND....

Who knew what the weather was going to be today?  Started out around 60 and ended up at 84.
Decided to put the ponies on the pastures that I had mown a few days ago.
 Pristine!
Barb helped with chores...we are a good team.  Never, never have I had someone who just knew what to do.  She works very hard for the comfort of all the ponies.

Sally wondered what kind of plant was going to grow up Gary's beautiful creation.
Here it is...
Gar was down at Jen's by 7:15 to watch the boys.  I did a few things around the house.
The other day we bombed out in our search for chairs, but today we found just what we wanted.  Two black leather Club Chairs to go with our black leather couch.
It's all Brenda and Al's fault.  When they gave us this beautiful oriental rug, we just had to spiff up the kitchen!  Delivery on Thursday...yay!!!!!
By the time we got home, it had really gotten warm outside.  The kitties were lounging on the back porch.

L'orange Marmalade wants to be a movie star when he grows up.

Gary had duty at the Welcome Center and I needed to mow the lawn....ALREADY.

Do you know what this plant is?  Comfrey.  My friend Andrea (the horse trainer from England) gave us this little tiny plant many years ago, and it is now 4 feet high and about eight feet in diameter.  It can be used as a poultice for horses.  What did I know???
 So I mowed....
 and mowed....
All the rain has given us very green, beautiful grass.  My friends Sue, Terry, Annette and Gayle are all talking about how dry it is where they live...  Some strange weather.

84 degrees and humidity brought out lots of bugs.  The ponies stayed in the indoor much of the day with all the doors and windows open.  They were finally interested in going back out once it clouded over...just when I went out to grain them.

Went in to make dinner and look who was sleeping on my clothes in the bedroom!
Had to have a lighter dinner tonight.  One of those big salads with chicken, onion, pears, apples, crumbly blue and a few slivered almonds.  I know, it's a gigantic ...but that's all we had and we are hogs (I guess).

Storm warnings for tonight...and 90 degrees in the forecast by mid week.
Done.
Night all.

SUNDAY STILLS CHALLENGE - WEEDS AND GRASSES

(sort of)

The weed below is the worst thing to hit this area....EVER!  It is sticky, smothers everything and spreads like crazy.  This year it has taken over our gardens and is over 3 feet high.  Getting rid of it is quite a challenge.  Don't know the name of it and hope it's nowhere near you.

CALYPSO UPDATE....

Not too long ago I did a post about the new babe in town...that would be Calypso (a Haflinger filly).  This is how she looks now....what a beauty.  Yesterday she went outside for the first time.

LOTS OF DRUMMING...

 Another misty morning.

Barb and I did chores...the usual Saturday gig.
There was still standing water in the big pasture, and everything is growing like crazy.
Now the day lilies are towering over the sculpture at the end of the driveway, and the snow on the mountain is a foot and a half tall.
I had to go to the bank and Wegmans, and when I got back at 11, the sun was out and the temperature was rising.  Went out to put the masks on the ponies...Barb was one step ahead of me.

My pal Alice arrived at 12:40 and we were off to drumming with our new drums.
These beautiful blossoms were outside the building.
There were 8 of us today including Khalid.  Something must have been in the air, as we laughed our butts off for the first hour.  What a great mix of people.  After working hard from 1-4, Khalid had Alice and me stick around for an hour of extra work on slaps and tones...learning how to take advantage of the new drums we just bought.  What a special person he is!  Patient, kind, a master and very generous with his time and talent.  Believe me, he is appreciated by all of us.
Look at what Gary did while I was gone!  Tina will love this.  Tuesday she brought us a new plant in memory of Pony (white for her color) and Gary put up this trellis on the barn porch so it would have a place to grow.  PERFECT!
Barb had evening chore duty and I made dinner.

Grilled Portabella Mushroom Sliders, Corn on the Cob and a salad.
Delish.

We invited Jack and Louise over for pie and tea at 8.  Now it's time to relax.
Night all.

SOUP....

This was just not a picture taking day.
Another one of those headless horseman mornings.
Sidney and the pups joined me in the barn.

At 9 Sally arrived to pick up some of my new cards, so I took a break from cleaning stalls and went in for a nice chat.
When I went back out to finish chores, L'orange joined me.
A little before 11 it started to rain pretty hard and the horses didn't look all that happy to me.
It was windy, not even 50 degrees and plain ugly out there.
So I put them all back in their nice fresh stalls with a flake of second cutting.

Between the rain and temperature change, I did not want any of them to colic.  Better to have them cozy and get turned out later.
Took a shower and then Gar and I went shopping for a nice chair for the kitchen.  No luck.
On the way home we stopped at the Lift Bridge Book Store so he could pick up the Buffalo paper and it looked like this.

At 2:30 Mary Pat and Darla came over to discuss a project we have planned for this summer.  Once everything is set I will present it to you.

At 5 I turned the horses out and cleaned the stalls AGAIN.  They headed straight back to the grass.

When I got in, Gary was ready to make French Toast for dinner.  We were given a quart of homemade maple syrup.  Yum.  Just what I wanted on a night like this.
Who would guess that we needed a fire today...egads!  It's almost June.
Night all.
