Kansas City and the Bandit Have Arrived

Today was all about constant wind.

As you can see, there is no snow and the boys were looking for grass.

After chores I went down to Wegmans and bought a boatload of groceries for the next week and when I got back to the farm, helped Gary get some things done around the house.  It was game day for the Bills so by 1pm we were ready to tune in.  Fortunately they won!!!
Stephanie left Kansas City yesterday, stopped last night along the way and arrived here around 1:30 this afternoon.
Her dog, Bandit, kept her company during the 14 hour drive.
I think he remembered being here.
Of course Sidney always thought dogs were his pals and Bandit has never been around cats.
They were very tuned in to each other.
Little Wonder loves Steph, and could not get close enough.
While I was dong morning chores, Jen called and said Scott wanted to make some lasagna for dinner.  Sounded good to me!  So I set the table in the kitchen for 5.  Duh!  There would be 6 of us, so I had to reset the table in the dining room.

I went out to feed Rebel and Buddy at 5.  It was really dark....but starting tomorrow it's going to be light longer each day!  Yay!

Finn, Jen and Scott (Coop was not able to make it) arrived around 5:30 and brought two huge pans of lasagna.  The high test version included beef, Italian sausage, ricotta cheese and regular mozzarella.  The other was made with ground turkey, cottage cheese and lower fat mozzarella.  I had a taste of both and they were outstanding!
Scott sure knew what he was doing!

A simple dinner, but delicious!
So good to have Steph here for the week!
Night all.

2 Factor Authentication.

A cold start and in the 30s much of the day.

After chores Gary and I spent over 1 and a half hours cleaning the refrigerator.  What a pain, but it's done.  Stephanie is on her way from Kansas City and of course we need to get things organized.  Lots of  company on the way.
Once again, Face Book wants me to get two factor authentication because of the "reach" I have and need protection for whatever.  So again, my friend Mary Lee came over to help me go through the steps that needed doing.  This time we did it in less than an hour.  The last time they asked me to do this I thought it was a scam and did not do it.  They kicked me off for two weeks and then bam!  It came on again.  It's not my favorite medium, but it's good for my photos.  I hope they leave me alone now,

Chores a little early, most of the snow from last night was gone

Happy to get in by the fire.  No nap today and I did not make dinner.

Night all.

Wild Winds

Another crazy day in the weather department.  It was in the 50s yesterday, 40s this morning (rain) and down in the 20s early afternoon.

Gary helped get the water trough cleaned and refilled before the temperature dropped.

After chores I managed to clean up the manure from the pastures before it freezes again.
I feel very fortunate that the ice melted, the snow is gone and the wind has dried things out.
Buddy's Mom stopped up today.  Other than that, nothing new.
At noon it was blowing like crazy and the temperature dropped so fast.  Also minor snow flakes.  I opted to put the boys in the barn so they would not spend the afternoon in the high winds.  Not looking for colic with these big changes.
Turned them back out at 4:30 and reset the barn for their dinner.

Both horses wanted to roll at the same time and got in each other's way....so it never happened before they went in.

Boy am I ticked!  Somehow Buddy broke the clip on the front of his new blanket.  Will call tomorrow and see what I can do about it.

More hot dogs for dinner with leftover rice and one yummy salad.  I bought a bag of pears a couple days ago and they are the best I've ever tasted.  Just right.  On mixed greens with apples/walnuts/crasins and balsamic dressing.
Little Wonder had a hard day at the office.
Night all.
