Hello Sunshine!

Off to a good start this morning.

The last full day for Angel and Elliott.  They will be moving to a new barn tomorrow morning.

We never got away from the mid 20s, but the solar impact was just what I needed

Did a few things around the house and was very down listening to the news.  To think about what these people are going through in the Ukraine makes me very emotional.  What would I do in this situation? Especially with all these animals that I would never desert. 

After chores I made a quick trip to Wegmans....

and made avocado toast for lunch.  So good.

Sidney spent most of the day sacked out on the bed.

I had evening chore duty and Gary finished cleaning up the driveway so a truck and horse trailer can get in here and manage to turn around in the snow.  It's a good thing they are moving around 9:30 as we may have snow squalls in the afternoon.

Shamus watched me as I got his dinner ready.

He had a last minute run with Elliott before I got them in the barn.  They had only touched noses prior to this and I'm glad they ended up in their stalls.  Of course Rebel was already in and waiting for his pony.

We went to the Diner for a sandwich.  No cooking dinner.....

So Much For The February Thaw

We woke up to a few inches of snow and the temperature was in the low 20s.  This morning I switched the turn out areas for the horses...Angel and Elliott went out first so I could put them in the run-in by the small pasture.  Angel and Shamus had a chance to meet as she walked down the aisle. 

Rebel and his pony had the front paddock and many options to get out of the weather....

but did they?

I had gone out at 7:30 and puttered around until around until 10.  Little Wonder stuck with me.

Checked on all of them a couple of times and they were doing fine.

Gary got the snow blower going and I actually did part of the driveway.

This is how it looked yesterday....

and this morning it was quite different.

After morning chores I had gone down to Country Max to get some shavings and leather conditioner as I wanted to modify this halter for Shamus.  I got it at a tack sale for our very first horse over 41 years ago.  Once I got it cleaned I cut down some of the straps and now it fits him.  Fancy.

A quick, easy dinner.

The situation in the Ukraine is so heartbreaking.  Can you even imagine what it would be like for us if that was happening here?

 

The Rebel and His Pony

It's all about introductions and getting to know each other.

This morning Shamus was in the run-in by the grooming room as we had to go to a funeral service and I needed to know he was safe.

His new pal kept tabs on him.

Around 2 I let Rebel join him and they had access to the small pasture.

It looks like they are going to be good friends.

Little Wonder was in and out with me several times today as we kept checking on everything.  It was in the low 20s and very windy.  So glad the sun was out! Can you tell that some rolling was going on?

Fortunately we had a fire going and our four legged friends were able to take advantage.

At evening chore time we put Angel and Elliott in their stalls and let Rebel and Shamus snoop around the front paddock.

After Rebel walked into his stall, Shamus found his own without any help.  Both of them had rolled and Shamus had ice frozen to his leg hairs.  He will need a grooming in the morning.  Doesn't his blanket look beautiful?

Dinner was exactly like last nights and tasted just as good.
