Have You Ever Been To A Food Truck Rodeo?

Very muggy this morning.  Could really feel it in the barn.

After chores I decided to start on our first batch of sauce.
 onions
 peppers
 carrots
and tomatoes.  All from our garden.
Added some salt, pepper, basil and a little sugar...then let it cook down for awhile.
This is a quick sauce.  We do not let it get real thick, and after it cools we put it in quart bags and freeze it.  About 75 for the year.  Hopefully Jenny will make some for her freezer too.
After that, went down to lunch with Gary, Coop and Finn.  Then it was over to Country Max for some shavings.
Finn and Coop were at the farm for a few hours this afternoon, and were into tree climbing.

I managed to bag the first batch of potatoes.  We have some beets that are almost the size of a pineapple.

Karen did chores tonight and Gary and I went in to the Rochester Public Market with Helen and Mel S.  Yep!  It was Food Truck Rodeo night and their granddaughter was going to be there with her Food Truck.  We arrived a little after 5 so we could get a parking place, and went straight over to Shaina's location.  (This event takes place on the last Wednesday of the month, and runs from 5-9).
Very unique, as she is the only person preparing paleo food.  Fresh everything and a very original menu.
Here she is with her grandparents.

I'd say there were about 30 trucks ready for business.

This band was playing when we arrived.

The longest line was at Le Petit Poutine.  At least 50 at all times.  They make french fries topped with "you name it."
The crowd kept getting bigger and bigger...perfect temperature.

We started off with a small wood fired pizza...

and eventually ended up at Effortlessly Healthy
for our "dinner."  Helen recommended the Paleo Garbage Plate, which you could get with a hamburger or chicken.  Are you ready for this?  Underneath the chicken....sweet potatoes and coleslaw (no mayo).  On top of the chicken was meat sauce and an avacado sauce.  I loved the mix....flavorific!  Thank you Shania, for treating us all to a "birthday dinner."  Delish!
Apparently a lot of people felt the same way as there was an awful lot of traffic at her window.

Another band started playing a little before 7.

There may have been over 4000 people there...what a perfect venue.  Can't believe we have not been there until now.

By the time we got ready to leave (a little after 7) the sky was wild!
Night all.

30 food trucks?! That's a lot! There are food trucks that come to an area near my office every Friday -- but there are only 10-15 of them (and I thought that was a lot).

I think we have 5 food trucks in all of Lexington. Love the idea of a "rodeo"!
