PHOEBE GETS A NEW DOOOOO....
Tomorrow Phoebe, DJ, Strider, Promise and Tilly go into Therapy Dog mode. Late this afternoon she went for a grooming so she could look sassy when she goes to school. On the way home we saw the beginning of a beautiful sunset.
LA DOLCE VITA....
WORKING WITH GLEN ABERLOUR....
This morning after chores, my friend Sandy came over to help me with Abbe. (I wanted her to "feel" line driving). After a good grooming, I put a surcingle on her and we walked over to the indoor. When I turned her loose she free lounged herself for almost five minutes! Today we just used a rope halter and did a little lounging on a line in addition to the line driving. Abbe responded very well to walk, trot and whoa...I was very proud of her since we are just at the beginning of spring work. The next time I am going to put on her harness and bridle.

EVENING LIGHT....
GREAT DAY FOR ANOTHER WALK OUT BACK...
Jenny is having work done in her kitchen, so we picked up Ice after choir practice. Could not resist taking the dogs for a walk in the mud out back....I just love washing off their feet afterwards. The water in the ditches has gone down over a foot, but the geese still have huge ponds in the corn fields for swimming. I'd say they are using 25 or 30 acres. Ice enjoyed getting hundreds of them to fly away as he ran wildly from one field to the other...Phoebe and Josh just watched. As you can see, the pastures are starting to dry out and the horses think they are eating "something."
IS IT SPRING?
Very chilly this morning considering the temperature yesterday...sunny and bright with a brisk wind. The good thing about it, is that the ground is drying out quickly. 95% of the snow is gone. After taking the shedding blade to the horses, I had to at least put a sheet back on them today. The temperature drop would have been too extreme for them, a 20 degree change could bring on colic. They all came through the winter very well (Shenna has gained some weight back and I think it is all due to alfalfa cubes... I find it hard to believe that she is 36 this year). Tomorrow my friend Sandy is going to come over and help me with Abbe, so she can apply what we are doing to her young mare.

TODAY WAS A WORKSHOP DAY....
I'LL FOLLOW THE SUN
Today the temperature was 52 when I got up. As I walked out to the barn this morning, the sky was so beautiful I could not resist taking lots of pictures. Pretty dramatic. All the horses blankets had to be taken off before I let them out for hay, as it really looks like we will hit the mid 60s. Rain is on the way...maybe even a thunderstorm.
