Fine Dining With the Three Ds and Company

What a difference a day makes.
The snow is back...so is the strong wind.  The temperature dropped more than 40 degrees.
I'm sure the girls were happy to have their blankets back on.

After chores I got my haircut and went to Agape...was sure it was Friday and could not figure out where some of my pals were.
When I got back home I started getting things organized for tonight's dinner.
Very special company...Jenny, Kristen, Katie and all their parents.
The wind was behind me as I flew out to the barn for evening chores....when is it going to stop?

Jen arrived while I was finishing up my shower.  She was in charge of finishing up the Chicken Marsala.

She had a good start on it before Kristen, Bob, Joan, Max, Kathy and Katie arrived.

 We had quite a feast!
Everyone brought something and it was all special.

 (the 3 Ds)

 Homemade bread....
 Jen's Chicken Marsala...
 Joan and Bob's Chicken French...
 Katie's salad...

 Kristen brought dessert.

What a treat!
Night all.

Abbe and the Pigfest Challenge....

It's all about the girls today.
At 7:30 the temperature was 55 degrees.  The water was absorbed in the front paddock but it was standing here and there in the pastures (and of course the ring was flooded).  By the end of the day it was 64 and there had been a fair amount of rain.
Before feeding, I removed blankets and they were looking pretty good.

Abbe nibbled on her hay for a short time and then went out to the nearest pasture to stand in a puddle and eat grass.
You can see the standing water all over the place.
Berlin was content to be under the shed roof....

and finally ventured out to stand in the same puddle with Abbe.

I did my thing during the day.  Chorus, Wegmans etc.  Gary had gone to Jamestown for a funeral so I had not made dinner.

When I went out to do evening chores...there was Abbe in all her glory.  As soon as she heard about Martine's Flurry she was not about to be one upped.
Berlin did not even come close.

It took awhile to clean them up before they got tucked in.

I'll bet Sara, Terry and Annette wish their horses looked like this.
Night all.

Did Someone Say We Are Having Extreme Weather Conditions?

At chore time, most of the snow had melted and the driveway still had a layer of ice here and there.  The temperature was on it's way up...not as warm as expected during the day, but right now it is over 50 heading toward the low 60s tomorrow.

Simple pleasures.....

During class it started to pour.

Connie worked on colored pencil techniques before completing her drawing of the iris.

Tina used pastels to continue her drawing of DJ and Cosmo.

Sally is starting on a new drawing....tulips.

When they left, it was raining so hard they all got soaked going to their cars.

Our next weather change was mist in the outback.

When there is nothing else for lunch, you can always make egg salad sandwiches...
By then, we caught a little break from all the water that was flooding the outdoor arena.

Gary went down to Jen's....I read and worked on taxes.

It was pretty dark at chore time, but I got some neat shots when I was outside of the barn.
 The windows were sweating...
and Berlinnnnniiiii was looking for me.

Abbe did it again!  She totally destroyed herself and another blanket by rolling in the indoor when she was all wet.  But I have to say, she lost the Piggy Contest to Martine's horse Flurry over in France.  I have never seen one grind in the muck like that.  It took a lot of muscle to clean him up.  Now Terry and Sara are going to have to check out her blog so they believe me.

Once again my darling Berlin was clean.  Such a smart old girl.
The fire has been going since 9:30 am.  I think it has put Gary to sleep as I am doing this.
Does eating dinner make you tired?

Took the rest of Carrie's sauce out of the freezer and had a simple supper.  Yes, it was good.
Gosh, what will I wear for the heat wave tomorrow?
Night all.
