Pick Up Sticks (and Walnuts....)

Another very damp and dull day.

Rebel was still holding his own this morning.
I cleaned the stalls with the help of Little Wonder.

Mid morning Jenny came up to help with some outside chores.  We have an area where we dump branches, leaves etc., and because there will be a pick up on Monday we moved a gigunda pile near the road.

I thought that was it, but then Gary and Jenny went over to the walnut tree and started raking up the remaining 1 million nuts.  Over 10 wheelbarrows were moved to our compost area and there must be at least 20 left.  This tree creates a lot of work for us.

Scott stopped up to help and then Gary took us down to the Bergen Family Restaurant for breakfast/lunch.
My friend, Mary Lee stopped up with more possibilities for Rebel.

I have many choices now....and of course he is doing better on his own.  The mud is probably soothing his soles.
We are pretty much at the end of the road with our tomatoes.  I think I will fry the green ones for dinner tomorrow night.
Chores at 6.  Before putting the horses in I gathered all the boots that my pals have brought or sent to me.  I still have no idea as to what will fit and greatly appreciate having them here.

You might think I am nuts posting all these videos, but I can look back and see the progress.
Got the boys tucked in and it was pitch black outside.
More cabbage soup for dinner.
Night all.

Sounds great! Hopefully Rebel continues to improve on his own. Walnut trees are really pretty but they drop so many nuts. They also toxic to horses and cause signs of lameness. Branches, leaves, nuts, and pollen cause issues with horses.
But I am sure you are aware of that?

Just something that crossed my mind when hearing you had a large walnut tree on your property.

Val. Fortunately our Walnut trees are by the road, hundreds of feet from the horses. They have killed almost every fruit tree we have planted over the years.

It's really wonderful that all these people are trying to help Rebel. Now I'm glad we don't have any walnut trees!

" Mud,mud, glorious mud" maybe it has soothed Rebel's foot too. Walnuts, if they are not the eating variety,a lot of work. You need a huge outdoor vacuum cleaner to gather them up.
