I woke up at 6:40 and grabbed my camera to take some photos of the moon.
No great shots.
However, the sunrise was gorgeous.
8 degrees when I went out to do chores with my assistants.
Phoebe went back in the house before I even got to the barn.
I had great intentions, planning to go to Agape, and ended up passing as I had too many things going on this afternoon. Needed a few things out of the Studio...this is how it looks during the winter.
Filled with tricycles, the lawn mower, lawn chairs and much more.
At 3 I headed down to the college campus as I was making a presentation to
Dr. Anne Panning's Fiction Writing Class.
Her students were learning about creativity and my job was to give them a lesson on
The students were English majors/minors and had no experience with art.
I am 100% confident that I can teach anyone to draw and this was my introductory lesson.
Have you ever done this?
First of all, a contour drawing shows the outlines, shapes and edges of a scene or object
omitting fine detail.
A blind contour drawing contains lines that are drawn without looking at the paper.
On top of that....it must be one continuous line, never taking the pen off the paper.
A modified contour drawing has one continuous line, but you can look down at your paper.
The object of this lesson is to teach student's the importance of being able to see,
and forces them into the right side of the brain.
All were very game and they did a great job.
We worked on hands, faces and objects. Below are examples of blind and modified drawings.
I was very happy with the work, as this was their debut doing this.
By the time I left, the sun was going down.
From there, I went to the Vet's Club where a retirement party was taking
place for Rob Carges, who was our Town Supervisor.
There were many politicos and friends there.
Margay (the Village Mayor) and Mary (my partner in crime).
Rob was presented with all kinds of Certificates of Appreciation for his 24 years of service.
His wife and 3 of their 4 sons were in town along with other family members.
Rob just got back from Florida and will be going back in a week or so.
I'll bet he has been loving life away from our recent weather.
I wish him all the best in his retirement.
As an aside....he was my student at the Campus Demonstration School back in the 60s.
It was my first year of teaching and who would ever think we would both end up on the
same Town Board
At 6:30 Mary and I went to another meeting at the library.
No rest for the wicked!
The good news! All 30 of the attendees are very committed to their communities
and it was a great meeting.
Home by 8:15, in need of a nap.
Night all.
PS
This was my picture find of the day.
