Where Are All the Photos?

Yet another beautiful day with sunshine and the temperature went up to 80 degrees.  For some reason I was not in a picture taking mood.  Chores as usual.  I had to get on my John Deere and hunted for Buddy's mask that got drenched in the rain last night.

Gary went out for a haircut and some coffee.  When he got home I ran some errands and bombed out on three of them as people were not at home.  Got in a good nap and then started making some peach jam.  Just letting it cook down until it's real thick and then will keep it in the frig.
Dinner was a replay.  Love having leftovers.
Chores at 7.
We must have gotten between one and two inches of rain last evening and our grass has gotten greener each day.

LW did not come out for chores again.  Instead, he watched the news with Gary.
Night all.

PS
Daniela had her first day of work yesterday at the University of Wisconsin.  She sure looks like a professional and will be a great addition to her department.

Confessions

The first thing I did this morning was to take a video of this piece of farm equipment that has been keeping us up for two nights in a row.

I then put it on FB with a comment about how thrilled I was, not being able to sleep through the noise.  After I thought about it, figured I was being very insensitive to the farmer and what he was doing.  Fortunately a friend from Maryland communicated with me, explaining why this is done and I decided to delete it.  After our conversation I posted it again with a quote from her as she knows all about farming.

"At this time of year, farmers are working around the clock. They usually have to farm many different parcels of land and move from place to place when the crops moisture content is in just the right zone for storage. They have moisture meters and most buyers will not accept crops unless they fall into the right moisture level, suitable for storage without spoiling."

You can't imagine all the comments I got. They were even shared by a couple of farmers. So glad I gave them the respect they deserved for just doing their jobs.
(By Wednesday morning over 5100 people saw my post as it was shared 7 times)
Meanwhile back at the ranch....
Apparently the boys did not mind the noise and grazed right through it during the night and this morning.

It was in the high 70s so the masks went back on.

I have a big crate full of straw on the porch in front of Gary's barn, it has a plexiglass glass roof and canvas sides.  It is Sidney's home away from home and I find him there frequently.

Gary had yoga and lunch today....when he got home I went to check out my next batch of hay.  Looks good and should be delivered on Saturday.
I decided to make a veggie stir fry for dinner and got everything ready.

Here's where confession number two comes in.  I put what I thought was brown rice (that I keep in a jar by the stove) in a small pot with water and chicken stock. Usually it takes quite awhile for it to get soft and this time it was done in no time!  No wonder!  I put in orzo!!!! Then, I added some soy sauce so it would taste more like the lomain I make.  My first Chinese Italian dinner and it tasted great!
By then the early evening light was off the charts.  All colors were brilliant.

I went out to feed Buddy and Rebel before 7.  Little Wonder never got off the porch.

This time the boys were waiting for me in the barn.

Within minutes after I got in the house we heard thunder....it got dark..... and BAM!

And then....the rainbow.
Night all.

Time To Stand Up....

Another beauty.

The boys were waiting for me in the pasture.

After chores Little Wonder and I went to Country Max for some shavings.

He always enjoys the ride...and the cookies he gets there.
Alice arrived at 10 for Spa Day.

Buddy and Rebel were as happy as clams.  LW was very happy too.

I knew there was a protest in Batavia from 12-2 and asked Alice if she was game for going.
She said yes....I made us a couple of sandwiches and we were off.

I was really extra motivated by a blog friend from Maryland who was also going to an event.
I don't see anything getting better unless we fight back.  T is trying so hard to keep us intimidated/afraid.  If we roll over, we won't stand a chance.
Interestedly enough, over have of the protesters are senior citizens who are worried about the futures for their children and grandchildren.
There was a lot of horn blowing and people giving peace signs along with a few giving us the bird.  That is always expected.

It had warmed up and I wore too much clothing....needed a nap when we got back home.  Late afternoon I mowed the lawn and around the pastures.
Not in the mood to make dinner, so we went out for a sandwich.
Chores by 7.

Where the heck did this picture come from?  Looks like the state of the planet.
Night all.
