Turning the Corner?

Ideal conditions for part of the day.  74 degrees, a nice breeze and plenty of sunshine.  A little before 3 we had a torrential downpour and it is still raining.

Woke up around 5:15 and went out to the kitchen before 6.

My plan was to go watch Lisa teaching part of a lesson, followed by a trip out to see Buddy.
Before leaving, I got on my trike and took Little Wonder for a walk out to the back 40.  On the way home he stopped by the outdoor arena and finally emptied out the food he has been eating....twice!  Made me so happy.  It's been a very long week worrying about him.
I did make it over to the clinic, and always marvel at Lisa's teaching.  There are not too many instructors (who are Grand Prix riders) that can explain things the way she does.  Others must have that figured out too, as she is doing clinics or judging all over the country.
I really enjoyed watching this horse and rider.

I could not resist grabbing this shot of Dawn's rooster when I was leaving
Then there is Buddy.  He has not gained any of his weight back and has aged at least 10 years.

His life is very different from what it was here and if he can stand to be by himself, I would take him back.
Jenny stopped up just when it started to pour and we ended up going over to Scott's house to check out the bedroom and walk in closet he has been working on.  They sure have a lot of good ideas.  LW went with us.
I made a good dinner when we got home.

Night all.

Company

Made it to 70 degrees today and we were loaded with sunshine.  Little Wonder and I had some good sleep last night and we were up before 7.

Gary went to Brockport for coffee and by 9:30 I was out mowing.

First I did the yard.....
then mowed the outdoor arena, small pasture....
and the front paddock.  I think I'm going to leave the big pasture.
Spent the afternoon doing laundry, changing sheets, vacuuming etc.
LW got in a short nap.
He was outside for a long time today and was acting pretty normal.

Gary did the hand mowing and earlier had done a lot of housework.
Our guest arrived at 6 after teaching 4 lessons at her clinic this afternoon.
We had Naan bread pizzas for dinner.

As she only had 3 hours of sleep, Lisa was off to bed early.
Night all.

45 Degrees

To think it is going to be 80 in a couple of days seems impossible  Misty rain much of the day.

Little Wonder slept through the night again.  Mid morning we went out for a walk to the back forty.  He seemed pretty good and had his rice and hamburger for breakfast.

The back pasture....and all of the pastures have grown the most beautiful grass ever.
Gary has continued to work on the gardens....many more to go.
On my way to bridge I dropped off a cat carrier to my friend Judy P.
Dave S. (on the right) was my partner and we came in first!  Yay 2 weeks in a row.  He was our pediatrician when our kids were young.  Never thought I would be playing bridge with him in our 80s!
I took LW out for another walk when I got home, but so far he has not been doing his business.  I hope that happens soon.  I'm introducing his regular food today.
Speaking of food....we had grilled burgers with caramelized onions and roasted potatoes for dinner....a little bean salad too.
Tomorrow we will be getting a house guest for the weekend.  Lisa E-R is coming from Florida to put on another dressage clinic at the Renaissance Equestrian Center.  Always good to catch up with her.  It's supposed to be sunny and tomorrow I plan to do some house cleaning before mowing....mowing....mowing.
Night all.

Little Wonder Was Still in the Headlines

We had all kinds of different weather today.  Sunshine, rain and dime sized hail with thunder.

Even tho Little Wonder slept through the night (me too) I knew something was wrong this morning.  He  had rice twice yesterday and some pumpkin...wanted nothing to eat when we got up.  Took him outside and he just was not acting normal.

Called the vet and they fit me in at 10:20.

In the meantime, we walked around the yard.  Gary's garlic has gotten so tall.

After being very quiet....as soon as I mentioned going in the car he was jumping all over the place.
He was very good for the vet and techs.  Because his tummy has been bothering him and he has not been doing his regular business....he had an X-ray, which looked good except for some gas bubbles in his abdomen.  So they gave him a shot to help that and after writing a big check
we were off to Glen Darrach farm to drop off some stuff for Andrea's horses and cats.
Seeing that she is his BFF, it made him very happy.
Her yearling, Hamisch is huge!  I swear he is going to reach 17 hands.
We headed for home and I picked up some hamburger to mix with rice....his diet for 24 hours.  I'm so glad he loves it.  He was not his usual up in the car.

Got back to the farm by 12:30...fed him and then it was nap time.
The vet said walking would help, so eventually we went out to the back 40.

A few minutes after we got back in the yard, it was obvious that the shot was working.  Phew. I can start gradually getting him back to his regular food after tomorrow. I hope he continues to feel better.  We all need to catch a break around here.

Dinner....pasta with caramelized onions and fresh tomatoes with a salad.

Night all.
