ROUND TWO IN THE BARN....

I was out in the barn doing chores when Randy arrived to help me put up a wall between two stalls. We mapped out a plan and he got right to work.
Within 2 hours, it was just about finished.
Too big of a job for me by myself. Randy brought his own tools and knew exactly what to do.

It ended up looking like this and I am very happy with the way it turned out. Pony has a cozy stall that is 11.5 x 14 and this one is 11.5 x 17.
By the time I finished cleaning stalls and setting up hay and water for evening chores, it was after 12:00. Two days in a row doing a lot of extra work.
It sprinkled for awhile, but it never really rained hard. Put the ponies in the back pasture as it was higher and dryer.


The pups did not get as muddy as usual.
Gar had a great fire going, and at 2 pm we had a 2 1/2 hour meeting here at the farm.
I invited Randy and Arlene to dinner, as it was the least I could do for all the time he spent helping me this morning.

Went out to do chores at 6:15. PC was rushing me, as usual.
They were all waiting for me to get the lead out.
Got them tucked in by 6:40 and went back to the house.
The Yucca plant near the paddock is waking up.
So far, I really like my new (used) car. The PT Cruiser will be missed tho....it had real character.
Set the table.
Got my salad makings together.
Thawed out some raspberries.
Sliced up some crusty French bread....
Put together my salad...
And the main dish was a whole grain pasta with our homemade sauce. Yum. I was so hungry for this....we all were.
We played Sequence and much to our surprise!!!!! Arlene and I were the winners.
Dessert? Plain yogurt with raspberries topped with granola.

I was too busy to take a lot of photos today. Maybe tomorrow I will get back in my groove.

TRANSITION....

Not too bad out there this morning. No frost...light sky...quiet.
Headed out to the barn a little after 7:30.
My Pone was standing there waiting for me................
Grained the horses and fed them hay out in the pasture...third day in a row.

Phoebe was licking her chops over something...what could that be?

Barb and her husband showed up around 8:30 with 6 HEAVY mats that will go in her horse's stall.

After they were unloaded she went out and got some crush and run to help level off the stall. This little lady knows how to work, and as this is her first horse, she wants him to be as comfortable as possible. Two butt busting days in a row.

By the time I moved the Pone's feeder, water bucket and hay bag to her new old stall, it was almost 11:30.

We were invited down to Apple Creek Farm for brunch....arrived at 1pm.

Jack rigged a stool with a pillow so Gar could keep his foot up.

As my brain was not functioning, I did not take pictures of the food before we started to eat. It was delish.

After eating we went into the living room and in the middle of our conversation I fell asleep! Not too tired????
Almost all of the apple trees in the orchard have now been pruned.

It started to rain late in the afternoon, so I put the horses in early (forgot to take my camera). My brain is so shot!

Invited Madonna over for a simple supper. Again, I forgot to take pictures. Sloppy Joes....

We taught her to play Sequence after we ate.

I skunked them 3 games in a row. Once again, my lids were very heavy.
I quit. Back tomorrow.

OVER THE HUMP....

Very chilly this morning, but bright.

Back to the yellow sunrise.
The pups and I went out to do chores...I grained the horses and was starting on the stalls when Barb P. arrived to check out the chore routine. Her horse will be coming here on the 1st and she will be helping me 10 days each month. It will be a pleasure to catch a break once in awhile. This morning we worked on the stall so it will be ready for some new mats. Randy is going to help me put up a stall wall on Monday. Pony will now go back to a normal sized stall (currently she is in a space that is 30 feet long).

Anyway, I fed the horses in the pasture again. Not so much wind today.

Bill A. picked up Gary this morning and took him down to Java for coffee. A very nice thing to do and it was a good break from the house.

At 11:30 I did some errands. Tina was kind enough to print out some posters for our art opening (one week from today), so I picked them up and they were placed in a few shops in the village.
As I drove around a couple blocks, I decided to show you a little more of Brockport.



















On the way home I stopped at the Highway Department to pick up 7 gallons of water and got the shot below (of the barn across the street). Love this building!
Considering the rain we had, the fields are drying up very well.
Got back to the farm and Ryan B. stopped in. I thought he was here to visit Gary, but he actually came to deliver my guitar. It needed some repairs, and since he builds guitars I asked if he could fix it for me. This is a classical Guild Mark III that I bought at the Syracuse University Bookstore when I was in graduate school. It was used when I got it (1965) and payed $260. Today it would be a collectors item if it did not have the updated repairs. Who would have thunk? I have not played it for a very long time and my fingers are like mush on the strings.
You will have to tune into the video below...Ryan (who has played in many bands) played and sang for me. He is also a photographer and gave me tons of tips on my camera...now if I could only apply them!
About 10 minutes after he left, Ulpie came up to visit Gary.
They sat by the fire and enjoyed the conversation.
He made some outstanding carrot/pineapple muffins. I just might have to go have one.

Went out to do chores around 6:45. It was gorgeous. In the coming week the temperature should get into the 60s and maybe 70. I'll take it.

The sky was blue....the moon was out.
We had dinner theater tonight...A meal and a movie. We like to watch foreign films. This one was pretty depressing.
Now it's late and I am finally finished. Don't forget the video!
