FIRST SNOW...

not much, but it was there....I love having the overhang in front of the barn during the winter, as it is a great place to put the hay when the weather gets bad.

DUNCAN THE PONY...

This photo was forwarded to me by Sandy (a friend and one of my students).  Duncan belongs to a mutual friend, Mary.  Isn't he beautiful?

IT DID NOT SNOW YET...

But with the wind, I don't think it is much over 35.  At 7:45 this morning it was very dark.

ALICIA AND ALEX...

Now this is what I call going all out for your friends.  Alex came home from California to attend a wedding.  All the men in the wedding party wore kilts, so he rented one instead of wearing a tux.  He is the grandson of "The Diva," my 91 year old art student, and is shown here with his Mom, Alicia.

THIS IS A SAMPLE OF 37 BUMPER STICKERS THAT WERE MAILED TO ME YESTERDAY...

I need to forward them to the Senior Center.  HA HA....

THE PHOEBSTER....

No trips today...no adventures...just hanging out at the farm.

THE GOOD NEWS....

...is that it is not raining.  The morning sun is like a spotlight on the yellow tree.

CHRISTMAS IN OCTOBER?

My small Christmas Cactus is full of blossoms...a little early this year.

THERE WILL BE A CHANGE IN THE WEATHER....

Almost everyday, the most beautiful light surrounds us in the late afternoon.  The way the sky is looking, we really might get snow tomorrow.

DARKNESS

When we change our clocks, I will be doing chores earlier.  It's hard to imagine going out there in a blizzard.  Fortunately, my schedule is slowing down and I am able to have some down time.  I start dinner before going out to do evening chores and when I come back in the kitchen smells great and there is a nice fire going.  Because it is dark by then, it is the kind of cozy that I love.  There is something great about every season.  We have been trying not to turn on our furnace (unless I have my class) so I am definately getting into the long underwear mode.  When both of our stoves are going, we can keep the downstairs at 70 (the upstairs is about 55!).  Fortunately, our bedroom is downstairs.  This is a big old farmhouse, and there are 4 bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs, but they are not used.  I know! I know! You must think we are nuts.  We both spend a lot of time outside, so when we come it, it feels fine.  During the summer, I put the horses in before I go to bed.  Now, they are in by 6:30 so I can put on my PJs and hit the couch.  I'm now on my second Jon Katz book and really enjoy his writing style.

Are all of you getting at least 10 political messages everyday?
