Pink and Purple Are In

A pretty nice start to the day that ended with sprinkles by evening chores.

At the moment, we do have pink and purple blossoms in several of the gardens.

I made another trip to Wegmans to get a few things as at long last, I am having bridge here on Friday.  It's been a very long time and I'm really looking forward to it.
Gary had a meeting this afternoon and came home to announce that we are now on the garden tour on July 19th.  Our raised beds are going to be loaded and the garlic will still be in the ground.  It's going to require a heck of a lot of energy to get all the gardens cleaned up.  I wonder what will be blooming at that time.  Today he planted yellow acid free tomatoes, cherry tomatoes and our San Marzanos.  Green and Red bell peppers too.  He already planted snow peas, zucchini, carrots, beets, shallots, onions, cabbage, potatoes, blueberries and transplanted some strawberries.  Our raspberries won't be ready for a long time and we still have plenty of rhubarb.  Strawberries are getting bigger everyday and we must have about 200 plants.  Yum.
I had some bratwurst and put together some sauerkraut with onions to top it off.  Finished up the potato salad and added some dill pickles.  Another picnic dinner.
Chores a little after 8.  It had been raining for awhile.

We have several lupins that must be loving the weather this year.  This is where the purple comes in.

That's it.  The temperature is going down to the 40s tonight.
Night all.

Back At It

This morning required masks and Swat.  It was sunny until late afternoon and the gnats were really bad.

I set  up hay nets in the run-in so they could catch a break from the bugs.

Around 10:30 I started mowing the lawn and went around outside of the pastures.

Finished a little after noon.
Gary went to yoga and lunch with his pals.  At 2 our friends Al and Brenda stopped up to check out the gardens and we sent them home with some rhubarb.  Al makes great pies!

After they left I took it easy for awhile, then started on dinner.
Chicken Helen....
potato salad...
and tomatoes with onions.
Tasted great.
Chores at 8:15.  By then, the gnats were even worse than they were this morning.

Night all.
