We had a very cold start to the day. Cold enough (with the wind) for me to put heavy blankets on the girls. Ha Ha! And they say it will be in the low 50s on Sunday. Merry Gooooo Round and Round.
The conditions changed every few minutes.
Today I organized a field trip into Rochester for lunch at Swan Market.
I've taken you there before...it is a German Deli/Restaurant and on the last Friday of each month they have entertainment. This sweet gentlemen is in his 90s and plays the accordion. If you don't want to stand in line, you need to get there by 11am! Unlike most restaurants, you don't get your own table. Today there were 10 of us and we ended up with two men we did not know.
They start everyone off with bread.
After looking at the menu, we ordered quite a variety of meals.
Every half hour, a traditional German song is played and the customers join in.
Unfortunately, I can't remember the proper names for everything. You are going to have to tell me in case I get mixed up.
Gary had Sauerbraten.
Three people had the Sampler Plate.
Three had Rahm Schnitzel.
One sausage platter. Knockwurst and Bratwurst.
Soup, bread dumplings.
German potato salad, red cabbage, sauerkraut, homemade noodles etc. for sides.
We all cleaned our plates.
As you can see, they have all kinds of German products in the Deli.
Their sausages are homemade and I always take some back to the farm so
we can make our own German dinner.
We bought several different desserts and shared them.
Black Forrest Cake.
Almond Torte.
Hazelnut Torte.
Because we had such an early lunch, we were on our way home by 12:30.
On the way in, we passed through periods of heavy snow...
by the time we got home the sky was blue.
We spent the rest of the afternoon by the fire reading. Nice and quiet.
The colors in the sunset were very similar to those in the sunrise.
Golden at both ends of the day.
Night all.

Boy that lunch, shared with good friends, would make anyone forget the crazy weather we've been having, especially those desserts! :-)!!
The weather has really been pretty fickle lately, hasn't it? At least one things for sure, your
I love your days :-).
I have never eaten german food - I honestly don't know why though! Enjoy the warmer weather tomorrow!
